Christmas Concert-Thursday December 7, 2017.
Save the date for our Christmas concert which will be
held in the gymnasium at Ferris Elementary on this night.
Our staff, led by our music teacher Ms. Sheryl, and
students are very excited to present what we hope will
be the best Christmas concert to date.

Library Field Trips A Big Hit With Our Children
Both of our schools had the privilege of attending a behind
the scenes tour at the main branch of the Richmond public
library. In addition to learning how to find the best books and
DVDs, we also had an exciting “behind the scenes” tour.
Each child had the opportunity to see how a book is returned
as well as have the chance to return one themselves using the
library return system. The children loved this activity as they
were able to scan in a book to be returned using the library’s
computer system and then watch as the book they scanned
made it’s way to the appropriate return bin.

RCMP Visit to Williams
We were very excited to have a member of the Richmond
RCMP detachment come to our Williams location to visit
our students. The children were very excited for this visit
and had created their own police hats in preparation for
the visit. The children all had a chance to sit in a real
police car as well as learn about the role the police play in
our community.
Judging by the number of children who have said they
“want to be a policeman (policewoman)” since the visit,
we can safely say that this visit was a huge success!
The RCMP will be visiting our Ferris classrooms on
Wednesday November 8th. This visit will start promptly at
9am so please do your best to have your children in class
by this time.

Snow Day Procedures
As winter approaches please be aware of the best ways to find
out if there are school closures due to inclement weather. We
understand that school closures greatly inconvenience parents
so we will do our best to stay open whenever possible but there
may be times we are forced to close. Below, please see the
best ways to find out about any possible school closures.
Ferris
Ferris school will regularly update their website on mornings
when inclement weather is a factor. Their website address is
ferris.sd38.bc.ca. If we are forced to close due to weather we
will also provide an update on our Ferris voicemail message
indicating if there is a closure.
Williams
In the event we are forced to close due to inclement weather
we will provide an update on our Williams voicemail message.

December Is Parent-Teacher Conference Month
While parents are always welcome to ask teachers about the progress of their child this will
be an opportunity to discuss in a more formal setting. We decided to make this a month
long process instead of limiting to one day to ensure that we could make this as
convenient as possible for parents and ensure that you are not rushed when discussing
your child. We will provide different time slots for parents to sign-up for in the coming
weeks.
Thank Yous
A couple of quick notes of thanks. Thank you to our Ferris parents who generously
donated to the “We Scare Hunger Away” food drive for the Richmond Food Bank.
Kiddyland was proud to be part of this food drive organized by Ferris school. Thanks for
your support!
Also, we would like to thank all the families that came out to support the BC Culture Days
event that was held at our Williams location. The event was a great success and families
really seemed to enjoy themselves. Thanks for coming by!
