How to Use Wikispaces

What is a Wiki?
 A wiki is a website that allows visitors to add,
remove, and edit information.
 Wikis are easy to use and are great for
collaborative work.
 It allows you to cite your sources by adding
hyperlinks (website URLs) directly into your
entries.

How Do I Join the Wiki?
 Go to www.

 Click “Join” in the upper right hand corner.

 Username – First name, last initial, period#
 Ex: KathleenJ2, RobertD7
 Create a password (Make sure you write it
down or you can remember it!)
 Make a wiki? No

OK, I Joined…Now What?
 Review the rubric on the home page
 Click on the assignment page. Make sure you
read the assignment for your class only!
 Click on your class’ section of the wiki
 Make your contribution to your class’ section
of the wiki. You can add information or edit
information you submitted.
 Do not edit another students entry!

How do I Add or Edit Info?
 Save your written portion in a Word
document first.
 Go to your class’ page and click on the edit
button.
 You can now add text and images.
 Once you are done with your edit, click
“save.”

How Do I Cite My Sources?
 All sources used must be cited in MLA
format. Visit www.easybib.com for help with
citations
 To cite your source after a sentence or
paragraph, click on embed widget
 Click reference, then click embed reference
marker
 Enter your citation in the box

How Do I Insert an Image?
 Save your image that you want to upload to
either a flash drive or your desktop
 While in edit mode, click on “file”
 Click “Upload Files”
 Find your file and click open
 Click on the file in the wikispaces menu and
click upload files
 Once the picture appears, you can edit its
size, orientation, and add a caption.
