12. Kiva Systems : Explained
• When an order arrives robots are guided by
computerized control
• Guided by the 2D bar codes on the floor to
navigate
• When this drive reaches the desired location it
places itself beneath a pod and lifts it from the
ground and moves.
• Again guided to human packer who takes care
of the next process.
Kiva automated material handling systems consist of robotic drive
units (bots), equipment, mobile inventory shelves (pods), and
software.
