Civic Factory Fest is an event that promotes learning, reflection and action around new forms of collaborative design and civic innovation, with the aim of promoting new opportunities for dialogue and collaboration between citizens, public administration, university and the private sector.
2. How do we imagine the Valencia of tomorrow? What if we were able to combine
intelligence, experience and skills of all players in the city to provide an answer to
the challenges facing our city? And what if we were able to do it by connecting with
collectives, projects and experts from the international community?
Civic Factory Fest is an event that promotes learning, thinking and
action around new forms of collaborative design and civic innova-
tion for our city, with the aim of promoting new opportunities for dialogue and
collaboration between citizens, public administration, university and the private
sector.
WHAT? WHO?
Civic Factory Fest is a project promoted by CivicWise and Marina of Valencia.
CivicWise is an international community focused on promoting processes of collec-
tive intelligence applied to the territory.
Marina de Valencia is a public institution composed of the General Administration of
the State, the Generalitat Valenciana and the City Council of Valencia.
WHY?
- To develop spaces capable of promoting dialogue Develop spaces capable
of promoting dialogue between citizens, government, the private
sector and universities.
-To create a common space for debate, learning and collective work for
the various agents present in the territory.
-To promote new synergies between different projects, companies and
entities that are working on processes of civic innovation in Valencia.
- To promote the development and testing of tools and methodologies
capable of promoting collective intelligence processes with impact
on the territory.
WHERE?
WHEN?
The event will take place at the Alinghi Building in the Marina of Valencia.
Located in a strategic area in ValenciA. The Marina area is present-
ed as one of the largest territories of transformation, innovation and
growth of the city.
This building enjoys a central location in the inner harbor and close to the urban fabric.
It has facilities that make of this location the ideal place to become the first European
Civic Factory. This space will become not only a prototype of an experimental nature,
but also a place of reference for the public and the various actors in the territory.
During the month of November. During the first three weeks the place will be mainly
oriented to professionals. The last week of november the space will be open to the
general public.

HOW?
For a month we will have a new space for the city. The opportunity to discover a new
way to find, create new opportunities and to make a city. Civic Factory Fest will host
different activities and dynamics:

10. It is a space for meeting and discussion, formal and informal
that promotes discussion and thinking among local actors of
the territory and citizens.
The Agora includes a set of activities for debate, thinking
and collective construction on integrated land management.
A complex space from which to create network and under-
stand who, how and why it manages, administers, develops,
builds and uses the city.
It is divided into several predefined spaces and have dif-
ferent character. A formal space with conference area and
space for workshops and on the other hand a more informal
space linked to a bar.
Civic Factory has six spaces with distinct character and function but closely interrelated. These spaces host multiple activities and formats from which the six areas of work outlined
above work transversely.
Laboratory research on techniques and methodologies to
accelerate progress towards a sustainable food system.
The kitchen as gastronomic, cultural and social phenom-
enon.
Share knowledge and experiences on food, food sover-
eignty and agriculture between local producers, entrepre-
neurs gastronomy and tourism and citizenship.
Space for learning and experimentation that promotes ac-
tivities in collaboration with universities and Civic Design
platform of CivicWise.
It is a space for communication, creation and collective re-
search that thinks around the city around six thematic areas
previously developed. It is a co-learning environment where
citizens, public, private and government sector build an
open and collaborative way.
Space whose function is to visualize the activation pro-
cess of the building during the event and promote other
emerging communities around artistic and civic practices
that share the values of the project.
It is the place where the community will realize that the
Civic Factory Fest is happening here, now, and is connect-
ed with the world.
Space for action and job sharing where local actors, inde-
pendent professionals and small businesses develop actions
and projects with impact on the territory. It is divided into
several areas:
Co-Working: Open shared workspace that promotes collab-
orative work and meeting the various agents present in the
territory.
Start-Up Space: accessible offices temporarily in seed stage
startups.
FabLab: tools and infrastructure necessary for digital manu-
facturing. Prototyping allows both the furniture and material
solutions needed to build the space itself and other projects.
Recreational activities will be more focused on socializ-
ing and celebration among people who are in the Civic
Factory Fest, but there will also be space for expression
through visual arts. It is both concerts and public places
such as projections and spaces for sport. Have a good
time together is essential to tap our present and strength-
en relationships.

CIVIC FACTORY FEST 2 - 27 NOVIEMBREThe event has a duration of one month, the month of November, it is divided into four blocks or
parts with different characters.
It is a process of collective construction divided into four phases during which the prototyping
and implementation of the Civic Factory, the six thematic areas and their respective working
groups for the city are completed.
It is the initial stage of prototyping and collective construction
of basic infrastructure of the Civic Factory. So during the lab,
the construction and upgrading of the space of Civic Factory
is completed, the community around it and its infrastructure
management and operation. It is during this stage when the
work groups starts with the six thematic areas of works on the
city.
It is the time when Civic Factory connects with the
global community. During this stage Civic Factory
opens and welcomes an international community of
professionals and citizen initiatives related to the dif-
ferent thematic areas worked in the previous phase.
Contact between the local and the global brings wealth
to the working groups and Civic Factory connects with
the world.
During the forum occurs the full opening
of Civic Factory to the city of Valencia. It is
during this phase the implementation and
testing of Civic Factory as an open space
to the whole citizenship. During the forum
and with a festive character, will be the pre-
sentation of the working groups and collec-
tive construction around the different areas
throughout the city.
