4. Election of Delegates Step #3 It is relatively easy to get elected, but if you run for a position make sure you are willing to fulfill the obligation of your office for the full two years. You will be representing your neighbors. . Duties of Precinct Officers Chair & Vice Chair Invite registered party members in neighborhood to caucus night; presides over neighborhood caucus meeting; help in finding location to hold meeting; disseminates candidate information to attendees. Works to register more Republicans in their area. Secretary & Treasurer Sign in attendees, assist in elections, take minutes of proceedings and count ballots. County Delegates Each precinct has a predetermined number of county delegates to elect. These delegates will promise to attend the County Nominating Convention in even-years, for their party, to vote to narrow down the candidates for County offices. This vote will determine if some candidates need to run in a primary election or not. They will also attend the odd-year Organizing Convention to vote to select the new County Central Committee members and County Party Leadership. State Delegates Each precinct has a predetermined number of state delegates to elect. These delegates will promise to attend the Utah State Convention, in even-years, for their party to vote to narrow down the candidates for State and Federal offices. This vote will determine if some candidates need to run in a primary election or not. They also promise to attend the Utah State Organizing Convention in odd-years to vote to select new State Party Officers.
