                                                   Remove the drum and set aside in a light pro-
                                                   tected area.
Step 3
Rotate the cartridge to the gear
side. Repeat Step 2 to remove the
cartridge pin. Separate the cartridge
sections and put aside the toner
unit. (See Photo 5&6)

NOTE: The pin damages easily. Do        Photo 9
not use excessive pressure boring

                                                   Remove the screws to the wiper blade and

                                                   using a vacuum or dry, compressed air.

                                                   Apply padding powder to the blade edge and

                                                   and Anhydrous Isopropyl Alcohol. Clean PCR
                                                   using a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.

                                                   NOTE: If needed, de-ionized water can be
                                                   used to clean the PCR.

                                      Apply conductive grease to the black PCR
                                      saddle block. Install PCR into saddle blocks.     Step 14

                                                                                        Starting on the toner unit, lift up on
                                                                                        the mag roller release handle.
                                                                                        Remove the mag roller from the car-
                                                                                        tridge. Use a vacuum or dry com-
                                                                                        pressed air to remove toner.

                                                       Reinstall spacer, drive gear, sleeve, and mag
                                                       roller latch onto mag roller. Install mag roller
                                                       into toner unit. Lock mag roller into place by
                                                       pushing the latch down until it clicks into
                                                       place.

                                        Replace the cartridge chip located on the
                                        waste unit. Unsnap the two clips under the             Step 24
                                        chip and snap into place the new chip.
                                        (See Photo 33&34)                                      Hold the cartridge with the fill plug
                                                                                               side facing you. Use a spring hook
                                                                                               to install the tension spring into the
                                                                                               mounting holes. (See Photo 37)

                                         Join the toner and waste unit together. Ensure
                                         that the waste unit spring is in alignment hole
                                         in the toner unit. Install the cartridge pins into
                                         the cartridge. Align the pin tabs to the slots in
                                         the cartridge. Use a small blade screw driver
                                         to turn the pin to the lock position (¼ turn).

                  XEROX PHASER 4500
  In November of 2004, Xerox released the Phaser 4500 laser
printer. The Xerox Phaser is a 36ppm printer with a maximum
monthly duty cycle of 150,000 pages.
  Two cartridge capacities are available, 10K pages and 17K
pages. The only differences between the two cartridges are
chips and fill weight.

Repeat Step 2 to remove the cartridge pin. Separate the cartridge sections and put aside the toner unit. (See Photo 5&6) NOTE: The pin damages easily. Do Photo 9 not use excessive pressure boring Step 6 the hole or pulling on the pin. Remove PCR roller from saddle blocks. Set PCR roller aside. (See Photo 9) Photo 5 Photo 10 Step 7 Remove the screws to the wiper blade and remove wiper blade. Clean waste toner area using a vacuum or dry, compressed air. (See Photo 10) Photo 6 Photo 11 Step 8 Clean wiper blade with a soft dry cloth or dry, compressed air. Apply padding powder to the blade edge and reinstall. (See Photo 11) Step 4 Remove the screws holding the drum axial and remove drum axial. Remove screws holding white drum Photo 12 bearing and remove drum bearing. Step 9 (See Photo 7&8) Clean PCR saddle blocks with cotton swab and Anhydrous Isopropyl Alcohol. Clean PCR using a dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Step 14 (See Photo 14&15) Starting on the toner unit, lift up on the mag roller release handle. Remove the mag roller from the car- tridge. Use a vacuum or dry com- pressed air to remove toner. (See Photo 20&21) Photo 15 Photo 20 Photo 16 Step 11 Clean drum using soft dry cloth. Apply padding powder to the drum. (See Photo 16&17) Photo 21 Photo 17 Step 15 Remove from the mag roller, the latch, sleeve, spacer, drive gear. Photo 18 Clean with a soft dry cloth and set Step 12 aside for later. (See Photo 22) Install the drum, drum axle, and drum bearing. Install screws for drum axial and bearing. Rotate drum to ensure smooth operation. Remove excess padding powder using a soft dry cloth from the drum and PCR area. (See Photo 18&19) Photo 19 Photo 22 Step 13 Set aside the waste unit. Protect the drum from light exposure.

Step 16 (See Photo 26) Clean the mag roller using a soft, lint-free cloth and MAGCLEANER. Set aside for later. (See Photo 23) Photo 27 Step 19 Reinstall the doctor blade. (See Photo 27) Photo 23 Photo 28 Step 20 Reinstall spacer, drive gear, sleeve, and mag roller latch onto mag roller. Install mag roller into toner unit. Lock mag roller into place by pushing the latch down until it clicks into place. Photo 24 (See Photo 28&29) Photo 29 Step 17 Remove the doctor blade. Use a vacuum or dry compressed air to remove toner. Clean the doctor Photo 30 blade using a dry, soft, lint-free cloth Step 21 and set aside for later. Fill main toner hopper with up to 150 grams (See Photo 24&25) of toner. Fill the reservoir toner hopper with the remaining toner. Install fill plugs when toner fill is complete on each hopper.   • 5. PHASER 4500 Technical Instructions 5 Photo 33 Step 22 Replace the cartridge chip located on the waste unit. Unsnap the two clips under the Step 24 chip and snap into place the new chip. (See Photo 33&34) Hold the cartridge with the fill plug side facing you. Use a spring hook to install the tension spring into the mounting holes. (See Photo 37) Photo 34 Photo 37 Photo 35 Step 23 Join the toner and waste unit together. Ensure that the waste unit spring is in alignment hole in the toner unit. Install the cartridge pins into the cartridge. Align the pin tabs to the slots in the cartridge. Use a small blade screw driver to turn the pin to the lock position (¼ turn). (See Photo 35&36) Photo 36 XEROX PHASER 4500 In November of 2004, Xerox released the Phaser 4500 laser printer. The Xerox Phaser is a 36ppm printer with a maximum monthly duty cycle of 150,000 pages. Two cartridge capacities are available, 10K pages and 17K pages. The only differences between the two cartridges are chips and fill weight.
