Career Joined Patni Computers and worked under Narayan Murthy. In 1981, Nandan Nilekani along with Narayan Murthy and five other co-founders founded Infosys. Shifted to US to take care of Infosys interests there. CEO and MD of Infosys from March 2002 to April 2007 Left Infosys on 9 July 2009 to serve as the chairperson of the UIDAI, in the rank of a cabinet minister under invitation from the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh He co-founded India‟s National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM)

I will be going to lead a programme to give identity to every Indian. Buttoday I am losing my identity… But, in my new role, Im supposed to work with600 government departments knowing fully well that no two governmentdepartments get along with one other.”

He is the first Indian to receive the top honor. 2007- Forbes “Businessman of the Year” for Asia 2006- „Padma Bhushan Award‟ by the Government of India 2005- Joseph Schumpeter Prize for innovative services in economy, economic sciences and politics 2004- Corporate Citizen of the Year award at the Asia Business Leader Awards organized by CNBC.
