External features of the animals

2. There are many different kinds of
animals around us.
Each animal has different
external features.
We can identify the animals by
looking at their external features.
3. A part of an animal’s body that
is on the outer surface of the
body rather than inside it.
For example:
Birds have wings, beak and
feathers.

4. Birds have wings.
They also have beaks.
Their bodies are covered with
feathers.
Tigers have claws.
They also have tails.
Their bodies are covered with fur.
Butterflies have wings.
They have six legs.
5. Elephants have tusks.
They have trunks.
They also have tails.
Fish have tails.
They also have fins.
Their bodies are covered with scales.
6. Animals with similar external features can be grouped together.
These animals have tails.
These animals have shells.
9. Animals can be grouped in many ways according
to their external features.
A group of animals can be divided again into
different groups. For example, the animals below are
grouped into one group because each of them has
four legs and a tail.
Lion
Tiger
Horse
Cow
10. Tigers and lion have claws and fur. Goats and
cows have horns and hair. So, we can group
these animals into two different groups.
Animals with claws and fur.
Animals with tail and hair.
