4. Make a difference
Here is to the crazy ones, the misfits, the
rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in
the square holes… the ones who see things
differently – they are not fond of rules…
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify
or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is
ignore them because they change things…
They push the human race forward, and while
some may see them as the crazy ones, we see
genius, because the ones who are crazy
enough to think that they can change the
world, are the ones who do”
5. Innovate
“We are gambling on our vision, and we’d
rather do that than make ‘me-too’ products.”
“Creativity is just connecting things.”
“Innovation is the ability to see change as an
opportunity – not a threat”
Lots of companies have tons of great
engineers and smart people. But
ultimately, there needs to be some
gravitational force that pulls it all together.
6. Amaze your customers
“You can’t just ask customers what they want
and then try to give that to them. By the time
you get it built, they’ll want something new.”
“Our DNA is as a consumer company for that
individual customer who’s voting thumbs up or
thumbs down. That’s who we think about. And
we think that our job is to take responsibility for
the complete user experience. And if it’s not up
par, it’s our fault, plain and simply.”
7. Live your vision and mission
“I was worth over $ 1 million when I was 23, ad over 10 millions when I was
24, and over 100 millions when I was 25, and it wasn’t that important
because I never did it for the money.”
“For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked
myself:” If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am
about to do today?”
And whenever the answer has been “no” for too many days in a row, I
know I need to change something.
To create an inspiring vision:
Your vision See yourself Strive to
is the promise of the way you understand Define your
what you shall one want to be why you exist deep values
day be.
- James Allen
8. Find your passion
“You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is
for your lovers. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking.
Don’t settle.
As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t
be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s
thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own
inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart
and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly
want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
9. Build a great team
“The only thing that works is management by values. Find people who are
competent and really bright, but more importantly, people who care
exactly about the same things you care about.”
“When I hire somebody really senior, competence is the ante. They have to
be really smart. But the real issue for me is, are they going to fall in love
with Apple? Because if they fall in love with Apple , everything else will
take care of itself. They’ll want to do what’s best for Apple, not what’s best
for them, what’s best for Steve or anybody else.”
10. Do your best
“We don’t get a chance to do that many things, and everyone should be
really excellent. Because this is our life.”
“Get rid of the crappy stuff and focus on the good stuff.”
“I’m as proud of what we don’t do as I am of what we do… our leadership
comes from saying ‘no’ to 1.000 things to make sure we don`t get on the
wrong track or try to do too much… it’s only by saying ‘no’ that you can
concentrate on the things that are really important.”
Do your best at every job. No sleep!
Success generates more success.
So be hungry for it.
Hire good people with passion for
excellence.
12. Persevere
“I’m convinced that about half of what separates the
successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is
pure perseverance.”
“Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose
faith.”
isn't determined by genetics. It's
about persistent, consistent action.
It’s not enough. If you wish to achieve
something, don't let life just "happen" to you.
“Learn continually there’s always
‘one more thing’ to learn!”
13. Persevere
And take action. If you wish to live your dreams, act from a sense of urgency.
There is no success without action.
Don’t wait, attack to get things done.
