4. Touchscreen
• Touchscreen: an electronic visual display that can detect the
presence and location of a touch within the display area
(Wikipedia).
• Two basic system of tablet devices' touchscreen:
• Resistive screen: detects a touch on a screen through pressure.
• Capacitive screen: also detects changes in electrical fields but
does not rely on pressure.

• Microprocessor.
• Battery.

• Flash-based memory.
• WiFi/GPS/antennas/Bluetooth devices.

8. CPU and Processors
• Single to quad-core processors.
• Some tablets have underclocked processors to reduce heat
production and converse battery life.

Samsung's Exynos, Qualcomm's Snapdragon, Apple's A4,
Marvell's Armada, Intel's Atom.

9. Storage capacity
• Most tablets used flash-based memory.
• Advantages: faster access and low power usage.
• Disadvantages: low capacity (16 GB – 64 GB).
• Some manufacturers still put HDDs in their tablets for higher
capacity.
10. Operating System
• Previous: tablets run only on PC operating system only.
• Nowadays: tablets also fit in with variations of smartphone
operating system.
• Examples:
• Google's Android 3.x (Honeycomb): Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
• Apple's iOS: iPad, iPad 2.
• Windows 7 Tablet: Lenovo IdeaPad, Acer Iconia W500.
• WebOS: HP TouchPad.
• BlackBerry Tablet OS: RIM's BlackBerry PlayBook.
