5. Once upon a time
there was a man and a
woman.They had a
daughter beautiful as
a
flower.Unfortunately
the mother died and
the father got married
again.
The stepmother had
an own daughter and
hated her
stepdaughter.

6. One day the woman
told her husband she
didn't want his
daughter in the house
anymore.She made
him take his child
away from home.
The father went to the
forest together with
his daughter and when
they reached a hill he
threw a round bread
down the path and
asked the girl to
follow it.

7. Poor girl ran
after the bread
and got lost.
After a while she
got to a house,
knocked and got
in. She did not
know it was a
witch’s house.

8. In the morning the
girl got up early
,cleaned and fed
the witch’s pets –
snakes and bats.
The
old lady gave her
lots of tasks
which she completed

9. As an award she
took the girl to a
magic river which
had changed its
colour and when
the water became
yellow she put the
girl in it.She
became golden and
brought out a chest

10. Then the witch
showed the girl
the way back
home .Her father
was so happy
but the stepmother
got jealous and
wanted her girl to
have gold too.

11. Everything repeated,
but the second girl
wasn't as
hardworking as the
first one.
That's why the old
lady punished
her.When the water
in the river became
black she put the
child in and the girl
became as black as
the devil.

12. After some time the
prince sent people to
bring him the gold
girl for a wife.
The stepmother
exchanged the two
girls.
It wasn't long before
the lie was
discovered.
The golden girl
married the prince
and they lived
happily ever after.

13. “ The Golden girl “ is just one of
the many tales in Bulgarian folklore
which are inspired by the water and
its rejuvenating power.
The pupils from 3 grade performed it
in the school theatre and invited
children from nearest kindergartens
and local people .
