1. WEBSITE HOSTING CONTROL PANEL
- INSTRUCTIONS –
All websites that receive hosting from InterConnection have access to a website hosting control panel. The control panel
is a very useful feature that allows you to set up email accounts, upload website files, view website hit statistics and view
details about your website hosting account.
To access the Website Control Panel type /admin after your website’s Internet address.
For example, www.kenya.interconnection.org/admin
The control panel access page will have the following form:
To access the control panel, you will need to enter the user name and password details that you received when your
account was created. Contact info@interconnection.org if you do not have these details.
Once you access the Control Panel site you will see the following links:
Clicking on the links on the left side provides the following services:
Site Summary: Lists the website’s hosting details. Details listed include the amount of file storage space available, the
number of users and hosting services available such as FrontPage extensions and cgi-bin
Services: Allows you to change the settings for some of your services. You can password protect directories and set up
a Majordomo mailing list. When a mailing list is created members can post an email message to the mailing list email
address, that email message is distributed to all list members.
Mailboxes/User: Allows you to set up individual email accounts. To set up an email account, click Add User. Enter a
username, the user’s full name and a password. The Username entered will be the prefix of the email account. Each user
account recipient can access the User Account Control Panel.
Site Report: Provides details on the number of visitors that your website has received.
Backup/Restore: Allows you to back up and restore your domain data to a local system.
Files: Allows you to create, rename, and remove directories and files, copy or move files to another directory, publish
content to a Web site, and upload files for FTP transfers. You can also upload files via software like Smart FTP or
FrontPage.
