• Gasification is a well-established method for
converting solid fuels into gaseous clean-fuels.
• Several hundred thousand vehicles
throughout Europe used wood as the fuel
source during the war years.
• Gasification was the method used to make
clean-fuel-gas to replace liquid fuels.
29. Generators to Produce Electricity
• Clean fuel-gas is used to power traditional
prime movers to make electricity:
• Reciprocating engine-generators for smaller
• Gas turbines are used for very large projects.
32. Air Emissions Control:
• The primary source of emissions comes from the
reciprocating engines or gas turbines exhaust.
• Emissions control systems are used to reduce emissions to
levels below the regulatory limits.
• Regulated pollutants generated by the engines are
