2. Chesapeake Bay Crater
Chesapeake Bay crater is the largest
crater in the U.S. It’s beneath Chesapeake Bay
the bay in Virginia. When the crater was
formed around 35 million years ago, it was the
end of the ice age and sea levels were pretty
high. Also the area was covered in rain forest.
We believe there was a meteorite impact
because some scientists found shocked quartz
during a drilling project, which shows us there
was an impact from space.
