Editor's Notes
Our college offers degree programs centered on effective practice that are strengthened by the integration of a liberal education. We offer cultivate critical thinking, intellectual integrity, curiosity and creativity in the pursuit of knowledge. Our University provides a variety of learning and service experiences to facilitate student achievement. We maintain a strong commitment to a diverse and inclusive student body, faculty and staff. Our college fosters an understanding of and respect for the multiplicity of human perspectives and belief systems.Quinnipiac supports faculty teacher-scholars who are effective teachers and who engage in scholarship.
We are dedicated to the promotion and development of service, service learning, experiential learning, and civic engagement programs and initiatives that involve students in the local community and challenge them to critically examine the role their service plays in cultivating personal development and social change.
Community service is woven into the fabric of Quinnipiac's culture. The Office of Community Service is a central resource for students, faculty and staff interested in volunteering in the local community. We believe service and civic engagement are agents of education and social change. We value service as a method to educate participants about local, national and international concerns and the individual's capacity to initiate change.
Why is it so important for Universities to be involved in social media? Let’s talk to some Quinnipiac Students and see what they have to say. How much time do you spend on social media?
Alumni GroupBy creating Alumni groups and more specific groups focused on particular departments, Quinnipiac students can communicate with recent graduates in their field, share experiences and valuable tips for underclassmen. Students can also begin to develop their network both in their field and other related fields that may prove valuable in their future lives. This can also ease the transition of students from academic environments to real world experience. Many universities are exploring this avenue, including Stanford, MIT and Caltech (Lavrusik).Job PostingsIt is known that many jobs do not post openings on Monster Inc., Career Builder and other job searching sites. A majority of hires are internal (recommendation of an employee or within the company itself). However, recruiters reaching outside of the company tend to gravitate toward linkedin. More detail is available about you and your history but more importantly your personality is on display. Training and PrepThis also has the advantage of getting students up and running quicker. Their turn around to adjust will be significantly less then their counterparts.Continuing the spirit of community far beyond the campus.
The systems development life cycle (SDLC), or software development process, or Software Development Life Cycle in systems engineering, information systems and software engineering, is a process of creating or altering information systems, and the models and methodologies that people use to develop these systems. In software engineering, the SDLC concept underpins many kinds of software development methodologies. These methodologies form the framework for planning and controlling the creation of an information system and the software development process.
Preliminary Analysis: The objective of phase 1 is to conduct a preliminary analysis, propose alternative solutions, describe costs and benefits and submit a preliminary plan with recommendations.Systems analysis, requirements definition: Defines project goals into defined functions and operation of the intended application. Analyze end-user information needs.Systems design: Describes desired features and operations in detail, including screen layouts, business rules, process diagrams, pseudo code and other documentation.Development: The real code is written here.Integration and testing: Brings all the pieces together into a special testing environment, then checks for errors, bugs and interoperability.Acceptance, installation, deployment: The final stage of initial development, where the software is put into production and runs actual business.Maintenance: What happens during the rest of the software's life: changes, correction, additions, moves to a different computing platform and more. This is often the longest of the stages.
