Analyze key factors that affect global health.docx
1. Analyze key factors that affect global health
In this project, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following competency:· Analyze
key factors that affect global healthScenarioYou work as a health education consultant for
the Global Health Initiative of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Your newest project is
to travel with a team of consultants to different colleges and universities to speak during
student learning day. For this occasion, you are asked to give presentations that educate
and motivate students to consider different sectors that make a difference in worldwide
affairs. The team has isolated key tasks, and you are in charge of drafting fact sheets on
major factors that affect global health. Each fact sheet should represent a broad overview of
each issue, geared to college students who are not necessarily on a health or medical
professional career track.DirectionsAs a health education consultant, you understand the
importance of providing useful handouts to accompany presentations. This team needs fact
sheets on the following four (4) key factors that influence global health:· Health security
from infectious diseases: Consider focusing on one of the following: immunizations, malaria,
parasites, Ebola, HIV, or HPV.· Nutrition: Consider focusing on one of the following:
child/maternal undernutrition, vitamin/micronutrient deficiencies, or physical
inactivity/obesity.· Addictive substances: Consider focusing on one of the following:
tobacco, alcohol, or illicit drugs.· Environmental risks: Consider focusing on one of the
following: unsafe water/sanitation, air quality, or occupational hazards. With each factor,
the CDC has also provided specific topics that you might focus on to provide examples of
how the factors impact global health. The fact sheet for each key factor listed should fit on
just one page. The information for each should explain how the factor affects global health
by including the following elements:· What: Describe and define the key factor. Explain how
it affects global health and to what extent globalization affects it.· Who: Define which global
populations are most affected by the key factor. Consider the following:· Are rural or urban
populations more affected?· Are wealthy or poor populations more affected?· Are certain
subsections of particular populations more affected than others? For example, consider the
impact on Native Americans who live on reservations or the impact on refugees from war-
torn countries.· Are certain ages within populations more affected?· Where: Define which
places are most affected by the key factor. Consider the following:· Are certain countries
more affected?· Are certain continents more affected?· How: Explain how current goals or
initiatives set by worldwide organizations address the key factors.· When: Explain the
timeline of current and past trends relating to the key factor. Consider the following:· When
did it start?· How quickly does/did it increase/decrease?· Are there any notable changes in
2. prevalence?· Are any changes forecasted for this trend?· Data: Provide important statistics,
data, and information about the key factor, including current trends. Include the following:·
What is the percentage of people affected?· What are the morbidity rates?· What are the
mortality rates?· What overall trends do you observe in the data? What to SubmitFact Sheets
