1. Read through the notes to get a general idea of the story. While reading, try to
relate the notes to form a story.
2. Decide on the tense that you should use. The past tense is usually used when you
tell a story. If you wish to include a dialogue in your story, you must use the present
tense in the dialogue.
3. Make short sentences based on the notes given.
4. Add interesting details to your story. Make use of wh-question words- where, why,
when, what and how to help you elaborate on the notes given.
5. Use dialogue and give names to the characters to make your composition more
interesting.
6. Use sentence connectors such as therefore, suddenly, meanwhile, however and
besides to link up ideas and join sentences.
7. Remember to use correct punctuation marks, especially the full stop, to convey the
story.
8. Do not change the story line and make sure you include all the notes given in the
correct order.
9. Read through to check for any spelling or grammar mistakes.
