view : sharing content and the availability of detailed
information about the subject matter.
modify :sharing labor and empowering
changes, improvements and extensions of subject matter.
use :sharing ownership and enabling semi or unrestricted reuse
of the subject matter or parts thereof.
view-related
The prime actors of open innovation are
organizations.
modification-related
The open source concept originated in the software
industry
Ex. digital content development (Wikipedia), via vehicles
(c,mm,n) and beverages (Free Beer – Voresøl), to 3D
printers (RepRap)
use-related
The prime actors of open design are consumers.
Ex. public manufacturing facilities (Fab Lab)
foundations (Ponoko), (Shareable) ,(Instructables).
8. Open design
1.Object layer …
2.Process layer …
3.Practice layer …
4.infrastructure layer …
※The discourse so far is focused on the object and process
layers, with some touches upon the practice layer.
However, quite surprisingly, despite its fundamental role, the
infrastructure layer is virtually ignored.
9.
10. infrastructure of open design should be…
14. Open design
push・top-down型を
↓
pull・bottom-up(customer-configured products)の
Henry Ford‟s remark “any color as long as
it‟s black”.
pull例:In previous centuries, most artefacts – from
shoes to carriages – were custom-designed and
built on demand by a craftsperson.
16. Open design
Open design
( Quite the contrary; it opens new vistas and new
opportunities and is likely to generate increased
consumer appreciation of the role of designers. )
