1. Israel’s Jordan Valley
• The Bible documents the west part of the Jordan
valley as the very first location in the promised
Lend, that the Israelites arrived at, by the end of
their Exodus from Egypt.
• The biblical victory of Israelites over Jericho (in the
Jordan valley) marks the start of Joshua’s conquest
of the land of Israel, and Jewish presence that
lasted over 1500 years, until 70 CE.
• Until 1948 the International border between
Jordan and the British mandate was the Jordan
river.
• In 1948, the Jordanian army illegally crossed its
international borders and invaded to fight the
establishment of Israel as a country.
• In 1967 Jordan returned to its original international
border (the Jordan river).
• As a direct successor of the British mandate over
the land of Israel, Israel is the sole sovereign of the
western part of the Jordan valley.
• The Arab minority (Palestinians) do not recognize
Israel’s right to exist, and accordingly, they also
claim that Israel is illegally occupying the Jordan
valley.
• Since 1967 Israel established in the Jordan valley
24 Settlements (farms, Kibutsim, and Moshavim)
and the town of Maale-Ephraim.
