Definition of Performance Appraisal
Newstrom; Performance appraisal is the process of evaluating the
performance of employees, sharing the information with them and searching
for ways to improve their performance.
A performance appraisal is a process of evaluating an employee’s
performance of a job in terms of its requirements.

5. Study Background
Business is such is thing where there are very few similarities or sometimes
contradictions between theories and practices and Human Resource Management is
the most crucial part of a business. But actually a business organization there is the
highest contradiction and conflict between theories and actual life practices.
Management, particularly human resource, in real life is not that easy like the theories.
The intention of this report is to find out the actual picture in the growing business
organizations of Bangladesh.
My research project deals with “Performance Appraisal System for workers.”. In this
report, I have studied &evaluated the performance appraisal process as it is carried
out in various companies.
6. Objectives of the study
This study has been conducted to focus on the following key objectives and their
relevant facts:
To analyze and explain performance appraisal process of different garments
industries
To asses and evaluate the existing performance appraisal Practice
identify strengthens and weaknesses of existing performance appraisal
Practice.
To summarize and find out the performance appraisal process and practice
are conducting now in Bangladeshi Garments.
To evaluate performance management system in the organization.
7. Methodology
Practice of performance appraisal in RMG sector and Data Collection
The study is based on performance appraisal system.
The data of this study were collected from different kinds of garments industries
of various location.
1. Export Knitwear Ltd. ( SenaKalyan Complex, Tongi, Gazipur)
2. Flexion Group ( Meghdoba, Pubail , Gazipur)
3. Ananta Fashion Ltd. ( Pagar, Tongi, Gazipur)
4. ABA Fashion Ltd. (SenaKalyan Complex, Tongi, Gazipur)
5. The Bottom Collection IND(PVT) Ltd. (SenaKalyan Complex, Tongi, Gazipur)
8. A total of 18-19 garments worker of different ages were selected based on
my data collection. But able to write data only 10 persons
Then descriptive statistical analyses were advanced by using tables.
This study did not use any unethical means to collect information.

18. Limitations of the study
Some limitations or barriers were aced while conducting the study.
Workers were not willing to talk with us.
Authority didn’t get permission to meet the workers
Getting relevant papers and documents were strictly prohibited.
The human resources department was reluctant to provide information
because of confidentiality.
In many cases the latest information was not available.

20. Conclusion
Performance Appraisal is the process of assessing the performance and progress
of an employee or a group of employees on a given job and his / their potential for
future development. It consists of all formal procedures used in the working
organizations to evaluate personalities, contributions and potentials of employees.
But many workers don’t know well about this system. Government and industries
take some necessary steps to make it better in future.
