Who is MZ Integration<br />Originally founded by Mark Zedwick in 2009 to develop and evaluate solutions for an investment firm.<br />A broad range of experience, from Telecommunications, Backups, System Integration, Billing and Infrastructure Management<br />My history is out-of-the box solutions. I’ve integrated switching systems to customer systems, built business class voice systems from scratch, and I’ve spent years working with or for phone companies, so I understand “it has to work all the time”.<br />
Why Backups<br />My work over the last five years as shown me the need for backups. I’ve personally overseen the loss of hundreds of Gig’s of call records at a phone company, only to be discovered while the auditors where standing there. <br />From experiences like that, I have a keen, almost OCD-like desire to backup even slightly important data. I began using Storegrid four years ago, and I’ve never looked back.<br />My time spent with Storegrid has allowed me to quickly migrate from managing my employer’s data to handling mine and my customer’s data. <br />Each project that I’ve worked on since starting MZ Integration has needed backups at some level. Web servers, databases, voice system configurations, file servers, end-user PC’s. The only thing I haven’t spend time backing up is mobile phones, and I’m trying to get a Storegrid version for Android made now.<br />
What is Storegrid<br />Storegrid Service Provider Edition is an application made by Vembu. (http://www.vembu.com)<br />Storegrid uses MySQL and Apache as it’s tools to manage the backups on both the server and the clients. This allows for a low software cost for Vembu, which they distribute for free.<br />Byte-level incremental data or block level backups are taken. The software determines which is most optimal and uses it automatically<br />Backup open files seamlessly using VSS<br />Secure backup data with industry standard encryption and compression techniques<br />StoreGrid supports clustering and load balancing and you can choose from different deployment modes.<br />Backs up Exchange, SQL Server, and can back up Oracle as well, using the Oracle’s Recovery Manager<br />StoreGrid supports backing up of ESX 3.0, ESX 3.5, ESXi 3.5, ESX 4.x and ESXi 4.x and VMware Server 2.0 Virtual Machines. StoreGrid uses VMWare APIs to create the snapshots of the Virtual Machines for backup. StoreGrid can then directly stream the snapshot files to the Online Backup Server. <br />
PricingDisk Space<br />This cost is totaled together for Inline. Each customer you bring on to the system can lower your cost for every customer. <br />
Licensing Example<br />A typical customer who is running Two Windows Servers, one with and Exchange and one with SQL Server. They have about 300 Gb’s of data to back up. This is how the costs break down.<br />Server 1:<br />Windows Server, 2 licenses per month<br />Exchange Server, 1 license per month<br />Exchange Mailboxes, 1 license per month<br />Server 2:<br />Windows Server, 2 licenses per month<br />MSSQL Server, 1 license per month<br />Total licenses per month => 7 x $3 = $21<br />Total disk space => 300 Gb x $1.00 = $300 ( Retail )<br />Total disk space => 300 Gb x $0.60 = $180 ( Inline Costs )<br />Local backup server at customer site will be owned by, configured by and supplied at no cost by MZ Integration. This applies for installations where the data needing to be backed up is less than 3.5 Terrabytes. Backups requiring larger capacity than that will require custom quotes and larger installation fees<br />
