EVALUATION ACTIVITY 4
Who would be the audience
for your media production?
Audience profile -
Age: 16-30
Gender: male/female
Music: Pop, R&B, Rap
Films: Horror, comedy, mystery
Products they’d buy/use -
EVALUATION ACTIVITY 5
How did you attract/address
     your audience?
Genre
We researched into the conventions of the thriller
genre. Such as theorists like; Todorov, Strauss
and Propp. This helped us gain the same theme
        and structure of common thrillers.
Our thriller follows conventions and can be
compared to thrillers such as: Orphan, The
Exorcist and Let the Right One In. Both these
thrillers have a female protagonist with a sinister
                       side.
Identification
Our first intention was to allow the
audience to identify with one of the
              characters.
For example, with our main character,
she’s a vulnerable female who then
     becomes feared and strong.
Sound
Sound was very important to our production as it
has many conventions of the thriller genre.
We researched into soundtracks of thrillers, for
example the ‘Psycho’ sound effect has been used
and edited into many different films and has
         connotations of fear and danger.
Also, the ‘Jaws’ sound effect is a world renowned
sound that gives the audience the impression of
             danger is about to occur.
We used Audacity, to clip our sounds and
Pinnacle to make our sound production more
       effective and increase its continuity.
Font
For our font, we took a long time on dafont.com,
looking through different fonts which were suited
to the thriller genre. There is a section on horror,
but they all seemed very amateur.
We chose our font, (picture in planning) because
we felt the stars added the mysterious and
supernatural aspect of our film. We asked people
what they first noticed about our font, and the
vast majority noticed the stars. Which is what we
                      intended.
Characters
We wanted our characters to attract our audience,
through identification. We did research into the
‘typical’ teenager, and we followed conventions to
get a character our audiences could remote to.
