4. So-sial Networking Research & Analysis Research - According to Melissa Ridenour (suite101.com) Users of social networking sites, according to the article posted on The Independent, are finding that risqué pictures and personal confessions they posted can be used against them in unimaginable and undesirable ways. Such postings have come back to haunt many users. - Another example of risks involved are explained in the article from The Independet: “In the US, a sex assault victim seeking compensation faces the prospect of her MySpace and Facebook pages being produced in court. In Texas, a driver whose car was involved in a fatal accident found his MySpace postings (“I’m not an alcoholic, I’m a drunkaholic”) part of the prosecution’s case. From Los Angeles to Lowestoft, thousands of social network site users have lost their jobs – or failed to clinch new ones – because of their pages’ contents. Police, colleges and schools are monitoring MySpace and Facebook pages for what they deem to be “inappropriate” content.” - In addition, naïve users are finding that security and privacy breaches can actually lead to identity theft. According to the article from The Independent, social networking sites, such as Facebook and My Space try to maintain their users’ privacy, but security and privacy breaches related to the applications used on the sites are common. In return for getting the application, users are asked to provide personal information. Such personal information is all that is required for identity theft to take place. - According to a study documented in O The Oprah Magazine from October 2009, researchers from USC have discovered negative emotional risks of social networking sites. The lead author of the study, cognitive neuroscientist Mary Helen Immordino-Yang asserts, “It takes a certain amount of time to fully experience complex social emotions,” Heavy reliance on the rapid intake of certain information—especially in younger, developing minds—could have consequences on our morality. It could also be a whole new source of unhappiness.”

6. You must remember to never confuse online interactions, and that includes Facebook wall posts and private messages, to be an adequate substitute for face-to-face, person-to-person conversations, outings and get-togethers. In other words, do not get wrapped up with how many friends are on your friends list or how many people have commented on your status today. You must realize, and too many of us fail to do so, that online networking should come second to trying to make connections in the real world. OlhaRomaniuk
7. I know people who got into fights in real life because of small facebook details. A couple that got together, and one of them did not change his status from "single" to "in a serious relationship". All hell broke loose because it was considered outrageous. "Are you trying to get someone else?" - she said... and the rest of the conversation is so stupid, that I can't even begin to describe it. Bruno Lucas
