2. We thought of spreading awareness amongst children of ‘Vidya’, an NGO about celebrating Dusshera and Diwali in a safe and eco-friendly way and thus reaching to their families through them. Most of these children come from families where many adults are not educated and thus they are unaware of the repercussions of ‘their way of celebrations’ of these festivals. The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

3. We felt that its important to make these children realize the hazards of burning crackers and suggesting better ways of celebrating these festivals. The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

4. We thought that these children would carry this message about not using crackers during the festivals to their homes and be instrumental in controlling Pollution and other health hazards. The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

5. We got divided into 6 groups of 5 children each. 4 groups worked towards making presentations on pollution, child labor, crackers -health hazards & climatic change – global warming. 2 groups prepared street plays on health hazards of crackers on elderly, children and pets The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

6. About 60 children of “ Vidya”, the afternoon school for less privileged children run at The Shri Ram School were shown the presentations and the plays about “No to crackers”. The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

7. The children were suggested alternative safe ways to celebrate these festivals. They were also distributed the fliers on different diseases spread out in the city over the last two months. The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi

8. It was a learning and a wonderful experience for us to work out on these presentations and share with these children. They listened to us with much intent and saw the street plays on the same too with a lot of interest. The Shri Ram School, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi
