1. Global Partnership Program for Young Women
UN Women and Duksung Women’s University has agreed on the joint development and operation of
the program for the education and training of young women, who will be future leaders in the
international society.
UN Women-Duksung Global Partnership Program for Young Women (UNWP) is aimed at nurturing
young women in entrepreneurship, partnership, gender equality and empowerment.
The program mainly consists of the World Congress of Global Partnership, Training Program,
Voluntary Service and Internship, and Education Program. The program also includes the Global
Student Contest among young students in different topics.
Duksung Women’s University, in collaboration with UN Women, will sustainably operate
the Global Partnership Program for young women’s development for years to come.

3. INVITATION
Women have undertaken more important roles than ever in the global society. Women’s
participation has increased in academia, business, politics and etc. Gender equality and
women development play key roles to achieve the Millennium Development
Goals (MDGs)-Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiated by the UN.
These issues were highlighted as activities of the United Nations Entity for Gender
Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) since the beginning of the
21st century. Similar agenda was presented at the World Youth Conference held in Mexico
in 2010 and at the World Congress of Global Partnership held in Duksung Women’s
University in 2012.
Duksung Women’s University in collaboration with UN Women will convene the World
Congress 2014 on August 4-15 in Seoul, Korea. The theme of the World Congress
2014 is “Serving Together: Education for Empowerment of Women”. The Congress aims
at strengthening women’s global partnership and leadership.
The World Congress 2014 also seeks to establish a strong global network of young
women and how to serve together for the global society particularly into Africa and Asia.
Participants will exchange ideas and suggest new paradigms on women’s development
from different perspectives.
The World Congress 2014 presents the Global Leaders Forum, Gender Partnership and
Women Entrepreneurship at the plenary panels. The World Congress 2014 will also
hold the Global Student’s Contest through special sessions in 4 areas including Career
Development, Health and Nutrition, Science and Technology and Art & Design.
There will be training programs in 7 different areas.

*Plenary Panel I will present topics related to womenomics and women businesses. Women leaders from
different industries will present their views on women business and challenges. The panelists will discuss about

“Women’s Business in the Agricultural Value Chain”
*Panel II will discuss about issues related to women in business focusing on
the agriculture sector. The Panel will cover how LDCs could encourage women to engage
businesses related to agricultural production, distribution and consumption.

*This panel will cover topics that are crucial for academic cooperation among universities in Africa

*As part of the global partnership, this session will focus on women’s participation in social and
economic activities. This session will emphasize on the education system for capacity building
and job creation for women.
Student Contest 2: Health and Nutrition-
“Institutional Building for Women’s Health and Nutrition”
*This session will emphasize on how health care and nutrition are critical in development. The issue of
institutional building will be studied in the discussion.

*In this session, participants will present creative ideas for the development of IT applications to make

“How to Apply Traditional Folk Arts into New Modern Design?”
*In this session, participants will experience practicing traditional design and modern design. This will
include onsite visits to design shops and related industries.

7. TRAINING PROGRAM
August 8-15 Training Program
Foreign participants are invited to take part in the training programs. The training programs will include
General Training and Selective Training. All participants are invited to the General Training together.
In the General Training program, there will be 5 main areas such as Women’s Economic Empowerment,
Violence against Women, Peace and Security, Women‘s Participation in Politics and Decision Making
Level and Leadership and Partnership. The Selective Training program will include 7 fields such as ICT;
Health and Nutrition; Childhood Education; Textile Design; Business & Entrepreneurship; the Agricultural
Industry; and the Ocean Industry. Foreign applicants who have passed the applications will be selected
for the student’s contest and will be informed directly. There will be a guideline for the application and
the closing date will be June 20, 2014. The list of participants will be announced and informed
by July 4, 2014.

STUDENT PROGRAM GUIDELINE
Student Contest
The participants for the Student Contest are invited to take part in the workshop competition in 4
different sessions. These are ‘Development of the Education System for Women’s Capacity Building,
Institutional Building for Health and Nutrition, Developing the Internet of Things to Make Women’s Lives
Better, and How to Apply Traditional Folk Arts into New Modern Design. Invited teams will present
according to the session they belong to, and will be evaluated for the best partners. Team presentations
are strongly recommended to show creative ideas and viewpoints, practical modeling and compelling
suggestions. The winners from each panel will be awarded.
A Model UN Women
This program will be facilitated by the Student Organisation Committee (SOC). All participants will be
invited to the Special Session: A Model UN Women on “Ending Violence against Women”. Participants
will be encouraged to propose ideas to enhance partnership with UN Women. Participants who are
selected in the competition should elect their national representatives for this session. The national
representatives should send their agenda and some suggestions to the Organizing Committee
by July 20, 2014.
8. PARTICIPATION: STUDENTS
World Congress of Global Partnership for Young Women
1. Who can apply for?
Applicants for the World Congress should be a student over 18 years old. Applicants who are not
affiliated with universities also eligible to apply with a recommendation letter from the head of
institution where they are affiliated.
2. What should I prepare for the Student Contest?
A. The World Congress invites participants on a team basis with three members (three females or
2 females and 1 male). Members should be composed of different institutional affiliations.
B. Prospective participants are expected to submit the application form, resume, a letter of
recommendation, and abstract (500 words) of presentation. The application form is in the overall
program.
C. The Organizing Committee will announce selected teams by 4 July, 2014.
D. All team members should be present for the presentation at the World Congress.
E. The Organizing Committee will provide travel expenses, accommodation, meals and local
transport. Electronic air tickets and program details will be sent by e-mail. Selected participants
will be asked to submit passport copies.
3. When do I have to submit the application?
The deadline for the application is June 20, 2014. It should be submitted by e-mail.
4. What benefits/support does the conference offer?
The Organizing Committee will provide return air tickets (economy class), accommodation (4 people
in a room), meals, and local transport for participants. The Organizing Committee will send air tickets
by e-mail. The winner of each team contest (there are 4 topics for contests.) will be awarded
with a sum of US$1,000 as the best partner team.
Winners will be eligible to apply to Duksung Women’s University for further studies. The
team members will be given priorities to receive scholarships for tuition fees, accommodation, and
monthly stipend. They may also be given opportunities to apply for internship programs.
5. How to select the best team and the Best Partner Award?
Participants are expected to post their presentation in the poster session on Day One, where the first
evaluation will take place. The poster session accounts for 30% of the total score. Top five teams
from differect sessions will be asked to present in an individual session. A supervisory committee will
evaluate the rest of the 70% of the total. The team with the highest scores (both poster and
session presentations) will be a winner for each panel.
The best partner teams will be awarded after the final panel of the World Congress 2014.
