2. Type of Documentary
• School For Stars is mainly a docusoap
as it follows particular characters in
detail, it also has interview with the
dancers and a voice over.
4. Narrative Structure
The way the information is given to us. This
documentary shows the students getting ready
for a big performance, the hard work and
struggle some of them have to go through to get
to be the best.
5. • Rule of 3rd shot when interviewing
the students.
• Hand Held Camera to take the
footage of the dancers training.
Camerawork
6. Mis-en-scene
• Bright lighting due to being in a dance
studio most of the time
• Training outfights, leggings, short tops,
jogging bottoms
• Not much makeup while they are training
but bright bold makeup for performing
• Hair neat and tidy, normally off the face.
7. • Dance music
• Singing by students
• Chattering off students after
practice
Sound
8. Editing
• Pace, this is the fast or slow way editors
edit footage together, so it is fast pace
when showing a routine in practice but
slow when interviewing students.
• Cut transition is where the editor decides
to cut the take of footage and place
another piece in.
• Cut away (A Roll, B Roll) is where the editor
cuts away from one thing to something
completely different or is in relation to
what someone has just said in the footage
beforehand
9. Archive Material
• This means it has already been filmed
and the editors have chosen to use it.
