3. The combination of my poster and music video is effective because my main message was to
spread the idea of women empowerment and confidence, and through my products I feel this
has been achieved.
In my video it was clear from the very beginning that I have a colour theme, in which each
artist has their own colour. Baring this in mind, for the background of my poster I used the
same three colours, and the same shades of them, and created a nice blended effect to make
it look softer, so it also reflects the sweet and innocent characters of these artists that I have
represented in my music video.
The image I used also reflects their characters in the music video. The white outfits give them
a very angelic look, in the video they are portrayed to be nurturing and strong females who
aim to spread positivity, like angels are believed to do. Also, white is a very pure colour and
that works really well with the idea of innocence within each of these characters, as well as
trying to spread good across their audiences. This also reflects my research, in which I realized
that majority of the most popular girl-bands have been represented to be caring, positive and
inspirational. Their outfits and facial expressions also reflect this idea.
My decision to have the artists dressed all in white creates a sense of unity between the
characters. Which further conforms to my message of girl empowerment; although we all
have individual characteristics and personality traits that make us unique, together we are
stronger. I have used a combination of outfits within my music video, in some shots the girls'
costumes represent their individualism and in other shots - towards the end of the music
video where the song changes key - they are wearing unified clothing to emphasize the main
message of female empowerment. The images on the next page show the similar, and
different outfits they wore in the video.
4. The song "Change your life" which is the song in my music video by little mix, belongs to
their album DNA which I have kept as the title of my poster advertising my version of the
Digipak. I feel "DNA" relates really well with the song in my video, as I discussed in my video,
through this song, the artists aim to inspire teenage girls to embrace their individuality. Our
DNA is one thing that makes us all individual, and therefore this three letter title further
shares a very strong message that I aimed to present in this video.
Also, not only does the title further emphasize the message of individuality I try and put
across in the video, but so do the artists in the image themselves. Throughout the video
each artist clearly had their individual personality traits, in the image on my poster, these
artists maintain those traits they put across in the video, on their facial expressions.
6. The Digipak font has a more evident presentation of the colour theme in my video. Each
artist has their own colour as there background, and not only that, but they also are wearing
the same outfits they wore in the shots where they were stood in front of these same
colours.
Another reason why the colour theme is the main focus on this product, is that even the
title follows the theme. Each letter has one of the three colours in my video.
Also the idea that I used for my Digipak front, which was having three different shapes in the
background, is an idea I got through my analysis of Little Mix products. This style
complimented my music video. The image below is the Little Mix example I used for the
front of my Digipak.
Also I feel that my Digipak products shows another
side to the artists. Although females are dressed up
and glamorous most the time, there is also a simple,
innocent and bubbly side to them. I feel all females
reflect and relate to this, and therefore emphasizing
both these sides of females would help the products
relate to the audience more.
8. The Digipak back has a similar background to the poster, the colours are in a different order,
but I still used all the colours in my colour theme, like I did for every single one of my
products.
The image on the back of the Digipak is different from those at the font, this time all three
girls are stood together laughing. The aim for my other products was to emphasize the
message of being individual, whereas this product emphasizes another message in my video,
which was to stick together and have a good time. And as it shows clearly in the image, the
girls are laughing, sharing a positive atmosphere.
Similar to the Digipak front, the back of this product emphasizes the innocent side of these
characters, and the idea of girl empowerment. The friendship between the artists in the
video is very evident, and I feel it is one of the most strongest aspects of it. The image on
this product is a perfect representation of true friendship and unity.
There is also a lot of the colour White, in my text, background and some of the artists
clothing items. I felt it was important to use the colour white because as I mentioned in the
analysis of my poster, the artists have a very angelic representation in the video, and I
wanted to continue this image on my Digipak products too, the colour white helps me
continue this. Not only does this colour emphasize the idea of them being angelic, but could
also represent their purity and innocence.
9. The CD is very simple, but I made sure that it still relates to my other products and my
music video. In order to achieve that I used all three of the colours in my colour theme.
When it came to deciding what sort of design to use for my CD, I thought something that is
simple and not over the top would work perfectly to compliment the simplicity of the
artists in my video, and that's when I decided circles are a great way to represent this.
The side of the Digipak also follows the colour theme. The text on top of it is in the same
font style I used on my poster and Digipak, This makes the product similar to the others,
and like them, relates to the video as well.
