Basketball Unit Technology Integration

Age Group- 8th
Grade Students
This is a block unit plan on basketball that will be taught to 8th
grade students that implements two
types of technology in order to provide feedback and different skills advice. Students are in Sports
Education Model throughout the Unit. The unit will last 2 weeks and includes 3 days of Game Play for
more Game like Situations to be evaluated, 2 assessment forms, and many days of technology usage
such as iPads and YouTube.
Unit Length- 2 Weeks
Equipment- Basketball (1 per student), Baskets, Cones, Colored Jerseys, and Whistles.

Jump Shot Skill Assessment Form
Skill Cues:
Student stands inside of 3 point line with basketball.
Have your body squared to the hoop.
Bend your knees, and keep your feet shoulder width apart.
Make sure the thumb of your guide hand is pointing to the center of your forehead.
Jump straight up so that you land in the same spot as you started.
Jump as high as you can and put your legs together as you shoot.
Release the ball right before you reach the top of your jump, forcing the ball up and forward with one
hand only.
The ball should roll off your index finger last.
Directions: Teammate will evaluate your jump shot and circle on the scale the amount of skill cues you
demonstrated when performing the jump shot skill.
