3. Healthy Living – Nutrition and Exercise Awareness
*Information and Ideas for Your Physical Project
Presentation:
• You will be placed into groups and each group will work
together to produce a project on an important and vital
“Healthy Living” issue utilizing (using) various research
and knowledge completed by each member in your
group.
• Each person has a specific role and contribution to
complete towards the success of the project and each
person’s contribution will be evaluated by your teachers.
• A sample rubric will be given to you, to explain that your
project will be graded by: content, form, research,
technology and creativity.
• A rubric point system will explain the point value and its
grade equivalent.
• Each project is to demonstrate the 6th Grade Project
Theme: Healthy Living – Nutrition and Exercise.
Awareness. This demonstration can be completed using
one or more of the following suggestions:
o An Experiment using the Scientific Method and the
use of Scientific Reporting
o Data collecting
o Fact Finding Investigative Reporting
o Interviews
o Parent Approved Excursions

4. o Use of Various Technologies and Computer
Applications
o Creative Communication and Art Forms
o Nutritionally –Based Community Outreach Programs
o Collaboration with Nutritional Groups, Nutritionists,
and/or Scientists

5. • When the project type is decided on by the group,
each member must equally contribute and make an
effort to successfully complete the project.
• Each group must have: a journal secretary, a
material gatherer, a Noodle Tools resource recorder,
and a project coordinator. (Group journals will be
provided.)
• Each group must indicate on the calendar provided:
when it will meet for collaboration, material
organization and collection and anything needed to
complete the project.
• Each group will provide Mrs. Giannuzzi (GJM) and
Mr. Nazarok (FP) with a list of needed supplies
(technology needs, etc.)
• If needed technology time will be set up.
• Your teachers will be providing some in-class time
as well as Flex time to work within your groups.
• The Public Library will be placed on notice that you
will be requiring materials on Nutrition to aid in your
projects.
• A list of Healthy Living Groups and web sites will be
provided to you as a possible resource.
• A journal of each step of the project must be
maintained by the group’s secretary so that all
group members and their contributions are logged
and recorded as the group moves towards
completion. A diary of the group’s meeting dates,
who was present, what was accomplished and what
still needs to be done to organize the group’s

6. project must be recorded. Journals will be collected
and monitored weekly.
• Teachers will be on hand to facilitate, gather
materials when needed, offer advice when needed,
guide each group, offer suggestions, and keep a
checklist on each group’s progress.
• Projects are to be completed as a group. This can
be done at home, at school library time and during t
FLEX time.
• Projects will be presented in an organized manner
that shows understanding of the topic.
• Groups should practice and be ready to present on
their scheduled day.
