7. the life cycle
The long eared owl has a interesting life cycle. Its
nests are 5 to 10 meters off the ground. Old
nests are lined with bark strips. Its eggs are in
clutches of 3 to 8. The incubating lasts 25 to 30
days. Juveniles walk out of the nest onto nearby
branches in 3 weeks. They are incapable of
flying until 5 weeks old. Long eared owls live
about 10 years.
