• Developed a MediaWiki extension to allow the use of
schema.org, LRMI and arbitrary HTML markup in
Wikitext.

• Very difficult to get MediaWiki approval for extension.
• After project finished Mediawiki started supporting
schema.org, but not arbitrary html tags.
• Extension has been widely used but not necessarily for
LRMI.

• Gooru serves as both a custom search engine, a playlist
creation tool, and an aggregator.
• 18 million resources in gooru catalogue.
• 180,000 tagged to instructional standards such as the
Common Core State Standards.
• 1.5 million quiz questions.
• 50,000 teacher and student created collections.
• All resources tagged with open licences.
• Non openly licensed resources are taken down if
uploaded.

• 95% of catalogue tagged with LRMI.
• Incorporated components of LRMI into the gooru
metadata schema which borrows from a range of
schema.
• gooru metadata framework is used to disseminate
catalog of indexed resources.
• Backend metadata stored in a slightly different
framework from LRMI.
• gooru fields are mapped to LRMI fields.
• Metadata stored in an SQL table but are transitioning to
a no SQL framework this year.

• A toolkit that enables teachers, instructors, professors,
corporate trainers, students and learners to discover,
adapt, and share learning resources.
• The Open Tapestry toolkit allows instructors to develop
course materials and organise content into categories, or
Tapestries, to enhance learners' experiences.

• Open Tapestry harvests metadata and allows users to
build collections from the content.
• Uses OAI harvesters, web crawlers, RSS harvesters
• Custom platform built on ruby on rails.
• Platforms ability to detect open licences based on Pat

• Try to encourage use of open content but also allow
people to create private instances.

Open Tapestry http://www.opentapestry.com/
• Ingests and preserves all kinds of metadata including
LRMI.
• Also allows users to create additional metadata.
• Provides fields for all LRMI elements but users tend not
to fill it in.
• System keeps track of the originator of the metadata,
important for derivative works to keep track of metadata
genealogies, to know who is asserting claims.
• Also implements IMS LTI to integrate Open Tapestry with
LMS.
