07/2014-Present Fairwood Fabrications: Senior welding inspector ENG TECH
TECHWELDI (RWC)
Working at fairwood fabrication as a fully qualified senior welding inspector
CSWIP 3.2 and the responsible welding coordinator (BS EN ISO 3834-3 RWC)
supervising a team of NDT technicians it is my reasonability to ensure that all
welding tasks are in full compliance with the standards that our customers
expect from the work that we carry out be it to CE marking of structural steel,
PED OR ASME. To this end I will write new PQR’S to meet customers’
requirements writing and issuing WPS’S and fully monitoring and documenting
2. all welding in the production environment. I have vast experience in all aspects
of NDT both completing the NDT myself, supervising and reviewing third party
NDT reports. At Fairwwods we specialise in structural steel work and
pressurised pipe and tank work to BS EN ISO and ASME B31.3.
04/2012-07/2014 Oil and Gas Services Ltd: Welding Engineer
Working as a Welding Engineer with in OGSL my duties included the full
responsible for all welding activates and documentation on oil and gas pipelines
and pipe skid units for BP, Shell and other oil and gas suppliers. This includes
the writing of WPQR’S to meet the customer’s requirements ensuring that all
WPQR’S were fully qualified to ASME IX and BS EN ISO 15614 plus any
additional requirement’s such as G48 corrosion tests, reviewing all destructive
and non-destructive test reports. I also would write all WPS’ and issue to the
relevant welders ensuring that they fully understand what was required to
complete the welding that they were under taking. Detailed weld mapping were
also my reasonability always using sequential numbering of welds and spool
items. This would be in excess of over three thousand individual welds per unit
which would all be traceable to the welder, filler consumable and heat number of
the parent materials used. I would keep a detailed register of all welding
activities and monitor all welding activities. Though out each project I would
leases with all third party and customer’s inspectors and generate a
comprehensive quality pack for each individual project.
2004 –04/2012 FAIRWOOD FABRICATIONS, WELDING INSPECTOR/
Welding Coordinator
Working with fairwood fabrications my duties as a Welding Inspector include
referring to the Application Standard, inspection check lists, drawings for dimensional
requirements and adhering to company QC/QA procedures, ensuring good
workmanship at all times. Materials are checked, identified and traced to a test
certificate and that they are in suitable condition. WPSs are approved and made
available to welders. Welding equipment is checked to be in suitable condition and
correctly calibrated. I ensure welders are appropriately certified; the materials used
are stored and controlled as specified by QS procedure. Where necessary, Inspection
Records are kept according to contract and type of fabrication.
Welding work includes welding pipes, structural steel work both in mild and stainless
steel primarily for the gas, oil, power and steel industries. I have the responsibility to
train other members of staff to the standards our clients demand and to inspect all the
work to ensure those standards are met.
2003 LAINGS, HEATHROW, Welding steel frame cages.
1997 ROWECORD
At Rowecord I started as a welder / fabricator, working with heavy plate, beams and
columns, using MMA and MAG, all to a coded standard. After two years I took the
3. position of team leader with the responsibility of overseeing the standards of the
welders and to help provide training. I was also trained as an NDT Technician, using
MPI, and reporting results to the senior inspector. I also had to ensure all welders
complied with the appropriate WPSs at all times, record times and dates of welds, ID
of the welders, material ID and consumables for the quality packs.
1995 SCANFLOW
Working as a welder / fabricator, making stainless steel and aluminium silos and
conveyer systems for the food industry, to a very high standard. I was also required to
oversee the quality of the welding by means of visual inspection, dye penetrant and
keeping detailed records of the results and compiling quality packs.
1993 S.B.M.C.
At S.B.M.C my duties were to build steel security buildings for the
telecommunications industry.
1988 BERNARD HASTIE
Started work as an apprentice Welder/Fabricator working with ferrous and non-
ferrous materials.
Welding with TIG, MAG and MMA, all welding carried out was subject to NDT. Part
of my apprenticeship was to assist with the NDT including MPI, DPI, Visual
Inspection and Pressure Testing, completed my apprenticeship and passed my City &
Guilds.
Other Experience
During my career, I have gained many Welding Qualifications to various National
Codes, in both ferrous and non ferrous materials. From ASME IX and EN 287 pipe
butt weld tests to plate tests in MAG, MMA and TIG, I have worked with many
inspection teams and have gained the necessary skills to help other people and to
uphold the required standards.
