4. Checking in Detail
• Open the online source and have it open next to the
paragraph
• Read both
• Identify plagiarized parts and highlight in red
• Check for background information (see
notebook/whiteboard)
• Highlight in green all relevant background information
• Write a comment for missing information (if it is stated
in the source)
• Comment on the quality of the source

• In yellow, highlight transition words
• Insert comment for suggested transition words
• In blue, highlight verbs/verb phrases
• Check that the tense is correct (past tense and
some present tense)
• Comment on tense usage
• Change text color to purple of sentences that are
not organized logically in the paragraph
