as privates for the 23 regiment
• His first battle was in Virginia
• Later he was promoted to commissary
sergeant
5. Marriage
• On January 25, 1871 to Ida Saxton
• Ida Saxton was born in 1847 and died in
1907
• They had 2 children, Katherine and Ida
6. The ‘Idol of Idaho’
• He was the 25 president from 1897
until 1901 when he was assonated
• He was assonated in 1901 by an
anarchist named Leon Czolgosz
• His vice president, Theodore
Roosevelt, was now becoming the 26
president
