2. A typical plot
• What I’ve learnt is that in most psychological
thrillers, the main/protagonist will usually be
affected mentally by something that has
happened to them. They may feel as though
they are being haunted.
• The person will most likely be misunderstood
and an example is “The Black Swan”
3. Sounds
• Typical psychological thriller sounds are in the
background which make certain noises to
create a more eerie and strange atmosphere.
• To catch the audiences attention, in trailers for
this specific genre, they use music which goes
at a fast pace to make things more exciting
and would make their target audience want to
watch it.
4. Characters
• Mainly, it is the protagonist who is deeply
troubled and has been affected by something.
In the beginning they may be a little lost and
don’t understand what is going on.
• Sometimes they may have people close to
them around them who may have been
involved in the situation.
• Example: Black Swan
5. Overview
• Trailers/synopsis: to give the audience an idea of
what they are going to see
• Sounds/music: to create an atmosphere the
audience have been anticipating
• Plot: a sense of what the movie is about and to
clear up what the audience may not understand
• Characters: important to have at least 2/3 main
characters to make the film more interesting
