This power point addresses the concept of characterization and was very successful with my 10th grade students.

2. Protagonist
Prefix pro- means for, or good.
Normally the main character in the
story and changes throughout the story.

3. Antagonist
Prefix ant means against.
The opposition of the protagonist and
causes the protagonist’s problems.
This does not have to be a human.

4. Round
Characters are interesting to the readers.
We know a lot about these characters.

5. Flat
Characters are under developed in the
story.
We do not know many things about these
characters.

6. Dynamic
CHANGE is the key word to associate
with dynamic characters.
These characters grow or change
emotionally in the story.
This is an internal change.

7. Static
These characters do not change in the
story.
