Who are they
In May 2009, what started as a neat gift for a friend
turned into the concept for Bertie’s Closet. Bertie and
Jeff handmade a laptop sleeve for a close friend who
liked it so much, their friend suggested selling their
products online. Bertie’s closet launched on Etsy and
took off shortly after.
Using whimsical prints and quality fabric, this
Southern California couple hand makes each of their
products so customers can have an unique piece to
protect their electronics.
Why they chose PrestaShop
After seeing how successful their Etsy shop was,
Bertie and Jeff decided it was time to launch an
online store. They started with a simple website on
Weebly. However, as sales grew, they saw the need to
migrate to a more robust ecommerce platform.

Another reason Bertie and Jeff decided to launch
their shop with PrestaShop was the selection of built-
in SEO features. Without steady traffic from a market
place, they needed to rank high in search results for
their products to sell. Features like friendly URL’s, meta
descriptions, meta tags and schema mark-ups makes
it easy for search engines to index the website.

Of all the PrestaShop modules they use, the social
media share buttons and customization features are
among their favorites. The social share buttons make
it easy for customers to share the product from any
product page. It’s perfect because Bertie’s closet uses
social media to market their products. The product
customization features allow customers to quickly set
up their order when they’re building laptop sleeves in
various color and sizes.
Since the launch of their shop, Bertie’s Closet has
sold over 25,000 made-to-order items and has been
featured in Business Insider, Apartment Therapy and
MacWorld.
