The pancreas is a gland behind the stomach that secretes digestive enzymes and hormones like insulin. Acute pancreatitis occurs when these enzymes become activated inside the pancreas, damaging the tissue. Risk factors include heavy alcohol use, gallstones, viral infections, medications, and genetics. Symptoms include severe abdominal pain radiating to the back along with nausea, vomiting, and fever. Treatment focuses on hospitalization, IV fluids, pain management, and sometimes surgery to remove damaged tissue.
2. The pancreas is a large gland
behind the stomach
Has two major functions
i. To secrete powerful digestive
enzymes into the small
intestine to aid the digestion
of carbohydrates, proteins,
and fat.
ii. To release the hormones
insulin and glucagon into the
bloodstream. These
hormones are involved in
blood glucose metabolism,
regulating how the body
stores and uses food for
energy.
3. When enzymes somehow become active inside the
pancreas, they eat the tissue of the pancreas. This
causes swelling, bleeding, and damage to the
pancreas and its blood vessels.
4. If you are a guy and a heavy drinker then
yes. You can definitely get this disease.
If you’re a woman and have gallstones
then you’re in luck as well.

7. The primary symptom: a
lot of pain in the upper
middle of your
abdomen, and often
cause pains to your
back.
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Bloating
Fever
Clammy skin
8. Hospitalization
Pain medication
Fluids given through an IV
Stopping food or fluid by mouth to limit the
activity of the pancreas
A surgery called debridement of pancreatic
necrosis.
