THE RESPONSIBLE
INDIVIDUAL
The SmilingOne Foundation
LOVING ACTION
for a
HEALTHY, GREEN AND SAFE
South Africa
We go to the people,
we live with them,
we love them,
we learn from them,
we start with what they have
and build on what they know.
When the task is accomplished and the work is done,
the people will all remark:
We have done it ourselves!
MISSION
We inspire Personal
Valuebased Leadership
ONE SOCIETY
We activate the CIRCLE OF CHANGE and implement THE RESPONSIBLE
INDIVIDUAL in South African communities. We care deeply!
We educate groups of Responsibility Coaches™ in chosen projects and
equip them to take part in establishing platforms of responsibility
within their own community. Each person involved will from there
build on an awareness that will inspire others to walk their path
responsibly. We believe in sustainability!
We join hands in partnerships and raise funds that will enable us to
run and sustain the existing projects and take on further projects,
making an even greater difference.

Re-Integration
Making a difference TOGETHER!
We started the first support group in
Guguletu/Nyanga to assist ex-offenders
to build the bridge from prison back
into society and at the same time assist
them in inspiring youth, families and
the community.
OUTCOME: Chris Plum has received
employment with DreamWorker and is
twice a week facilitating THE
RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUAL in his
community. Farouk Ulueme has taken on
the lead on our Youth Development
Programme. Both he and Chris are
training as Responsibility Coaches™.
Thabo Makhanya is actively promoting
THE RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUAL within his
community and assisting youth
facilitation. Vaughan McGee is assisting
youth facilitation and marketing of The
SmilingOne Foundation.
OBJECTIVE 2010/2011: We continue to
support ex-offenders on the path of change
and activate them in our community
empowerment programmes. We will follow a
minimum of 15-20 ex-offenders, who have
been directly involved with THE RESPONSIBLE
INDIVIDUAL inside prison. At least 5 of these
will be educated as Responsibility Coaches™

SmilingOne invest in the future!
The Youth is our future.
We have hand in hand with Nyanga Arts Development
Centre activated the CIRCLE OF CHANGE in
Nyanga/Guguletu. The Arts Centre is already offering
skills programme for the Youth. SmilingOne is
complimenting their initiative with THE RESPONSIBLE
INDIVIDUAL and encouraging Caring Programmes, to
be given/facilitated by the Youth to their community.
We make use of our ‘Re-integration Team’ to inspire
change and responsible living.
OBJECTIVE 2010/2011
We facilitate THE
RESPONSIBLE
INDIVIDUAL in a fun,
creative and simple way
that invites youth to
embrace change and
responsible living. We
will work with more
than 100 young people
and educate ~12 Youth
Community Builders.
We also expand to
DuNoon Township.

Empowerment
IN GIVING LIES THE GREATEST REWARD!
We are inviting, we are supporting and
encouraging Caring Programmes (in Pillar
2) to emerge within the community – as
a natural step in the process of Self
Discovery (Pillar 1) and unconditional
giving.
OBJECTIVE 2010/2011
At least 5 CARING Programmes
with more than 100 people
actively involved and
benefitting.
We continue to unlock the
potential within the
community and inspire more
caring programmes to emerge
– such as the SWOP SHOP Re-
cycling project for a green
community, the expanding of
organic food gardens, a
community kitchen/cafe’ and
many more to come.
