The Visual Resources Association remembers those members who have passed away during the last few years: Jeffrey Stuart Erickson, Florence Jill Thorp, and James F. Monteith.
8. Florence Jill Thorp, age 39, from Baltimore, MD, passed away October 3, 2011.
She graduated from Hartwick College, Oneonta, with a BA in Art History in 1993 and, in
2000, Florence Jill received her Masters in Library Science from Syracuse University.
Florence Jill lived in Oneonta for seven years after graduating Hartwick, where she
worked at the College as a Slide Librarian.
In 2000, she moved to Baltimore, MD, where she accepted a position as Media
Resources Director at the Maryland Institute College of Art. At the time of her
passing, she was the Director of Decker Library at MICA. Florence was very active in the
Mid-Atlantic chapter of the VRA. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed drawing and
painting. She loved growing flowers in her backyard, antiquing, traveling, spending time
with her many friends, Baltimore Ravens Football, Syracuse Basketball, her cat
Gloria, and visiting her family in Vernon Center.
