7.18.1 Autoliv Company Overview
Autoliv is a Swedish company that develops, manufactures and markets active and passive safety
systems for OEMs. The company’s largest markets are the US and Europe which both account for
around one third of Autoliv’s sales, China and Japan together make up another quarter. Autoliv has
seen substantial growth in the past decade and the car market’s increased focus on safety will
allow this to continue.
7.18.2 Autoliv’s role in the Automotive ADAS Market
At present the majority of Autoliv’s sales still come from the passive safety systems market. The
strong projected growth of the global automotive ADAS market as well as the high unit prices in
that sector will boost Autoliv’s revenue from that market. Because active safety systems do not
cannibalise sales of (generally mandatory) passive safety systems, Autoliv is expected to reap the
full benefits of the growth of the ADAS market.
