The Current Prospect Of
Vaccine In BangladeshBY ZISAN AHMED ZIKO
1
To my Presentation
2
Definition of vaccine
A vaccine is a biological preparation that
improves immunity to a particular disease. It
contains an agent that resembles disease-causing
microorganism.
3
Properties of vaccine
 Provide long lasting immunity.
 It will show both humoral and cellular immunity.
 It Should not be induce autoimmunity.
 It Should be inexpensive to produce.
 Vaccine must also be perceived to be safe.
4
History Of vaccine
In 1796 british physician Edward Jenner
used the cowpox virus to confer protection
against smallpox.
In 1885 the French microbiologist Louis
Pasteur developed the first vaccine against
rabies.
5
Types of vaccine found in Bangladesh
 Inactivated vaccine
 Attenuated vaccine
 Toxoid vaccine
 Subunit vaccine
 Conjugate vaccine
 DNA vaccine
 Recombinant Vector Vaccines
 Vaccine adjuvant
6
Inactivated vaccine
This vaccines are for those micro-
organisms which are destroyed
with chemicals, heat, radiation, or
antibiotics.
Examples : Cholera vaccine
7
Attenuated vaccine :
Some vaccines contain
live, attenuated
microorganisms.
Example: Rubella vaccine
8
Toxoid vaccine :
They are made from inactivated toxic
compounds.
Example : Crotalus atrox vaccine
9
Subunit vaccine
It contains both inactivated or
attenuated micro-organism to
an immune system.
Example : Influenza vaccine
10
Conjugate vaccine
It contains bacteria have
polysaccharide outer coats.
Example : Emophilus influenza
type B vaccine
11
DNA vaccine
DNA vaccines take immunization to
a new technological level.
Example : Influenza vaccine
12
Recombinant Vector Vaccines
Recombinant vector vaccines are experimental vaccines
similar to DNA vaccines
Example : DPT
13
Vaccine adjuvant
It is added to the vaccine to
increase the body's immune
response to the vaccine.
Example : Sapions
14
Stages of vaccine production in
Bangladesh
It has several stages for vaccine manufacturing,
Inactivation : This involves making of the antigenic
preparation.
Purification : The isolated antigen is purified
Formulation : The purified antigen is formulated in this step.
15
Common disease of Bangladesh and their
cause
Hepatitis A: CDC recommends this vaccine because you can get hepatitis A
through contaminated food or water in Bangladesh.
Typhoid :You can get typhoid through contaminated food or water in
Bangladesh
16
Common disease of Bangladesh and their
causes
Hepatitis B :You can get hepatitis B through sexual contact, contaminated needles, and
blood products
Malaria : When traveling in Bangladesh, you should avoid mosquito bites to prevent
malaria
17
Common disease of Bangladesh and their
cause
Rabies :Rabies can be found in dogs, bats, and other mammals in
Bangladesh
Yellow Fever: There is no risk of yellow fever in Bangladesh.
18
Common Viruses & Their Vaccines in
Bangladesh
Disease Name Vaccine Name
Influenza Agrippal S1
Human papilloma virus Cervarix
Cholera Dukora
BCG BCG Vaccine
Rabies Vekorab
Hepatitis B Engerix
19
Some pharmaceutical which produce
vaccines in Bangladesh
1. Incepta
2. Square
3. Acme
4. Ibne-sina
5. Reneta
6. Beximco
7. Opsonin
8. Globe pharma
20
Reasons to be vaccinated
 Vaccines will help keep you healthy.
 Vaccines are as important to your overall health as diet and exercise.
 Vaccination can mean the difference between life and death.
 Vaccines are safe.
21
Reasons to be vaccinated
 Vaccines won’t give you the disease they are
designed to prevent.
 Young and healthy people can get very sick,
too.
 Vaccine-preventable diseases are expensive.
22
Advantages of vaccine in Bangladesh
 It has no risk of infection.
 Cost effectiveless.
 Immune response focused only on antigen of interest.
 Show both Humoral & Cell mediated immunity.
 Refrigation are not required.
 Stable for storage.
23
Disadvantages Of vaccine in Bangladesh
 Many vaccines do not raise immunity
 Boosters needed
 No local immunity
 Higher cost
 Shortage of money
 Failure in inactivation
24
Vaccine failure
Primary failure : An individual fails to make an
adequate immune response to initial vaccination
Secondary failure : An individual makes an
adequate immune response initially but then
immunity wanes over time.
25
Causes of vaccine failure in Bangladesh
 Used of expired vaccine
 Genetic resistance
 Improper storage of vaccine
 Mycotoxins
 Vaccination reactions.
26
Recent research
 Approaches for designing a preventive HIV vaccine.
 Vaccine against Dengue Vaccine.
 NIH Scientists Identify New HIV-Inhibiting Protein.
 NIH Scientists Find Cause of Rare Immune Disease: Genetic Mutation Leads to Cold
Allergy, Immune Deficiency and Autoimmunity.
 NIH Found a Gene That May Play a Role in Type 1 Diabetes.
