My presentation from Wearables London (Oct 2014), controlled live with a MYO gesture control armband. Designing for the wearables market goes beyond mere UI and UX, it requires an understanding of user requirements, habits and expectations. This presentation explores the recent BBC Apprentice 'Wearable Technology' task and how the phrase is finally entering consumer vernacular. Also, Will.i.am's new Puls smart cuff - how does it rate against the opposition and does it finally close the gap between technology and Fashion? The Past, Present and Future section embraces the Walkman, Iron Man, calculator watches, Brandwidth's Apple Watch projects and the future of wearable technology... according to my 5 and 9 year old children. Finally, the #Shitometer is introduced as a device for sanity-checking a product. Apply this thinking to avoid unnecessary features or stopping a project in its tracks if it shouldn't even exist!
