Carlos seeks revenge against the drug lords and corrupt town leaders who wrongfully killed his father and caused his mother's death. He forms a gang to carry out attacks against the town that had turned against his family, destroying homes and infrastructure. After years of planning, Carlos and his gang enact their revenge by beheading one of the drug lords and starting fires across the town, viewing it as justice for what was done to him and his family years ago.

1.
SERIES OF SHOTS:
Many people running up and down; some injured people
covered in blood.
(beat)
Children crying on the sides of muddy and dirty streets
which are shown to be obvious as a town struck by poverty.
(beat)
Barely daylight, all that can be seen is the lights of
bombs going off and smoke creating a dirty, gray smoke in
the air.
CARLOS (V.O)
It happened so fast. No one had
time to prepare. Just a human
instinct to panic when times are
bad. From sitting down on the
streets and dingy houses of
Cidade Velha on the forgotten
suburbs of Rio to being in a
completely destructed war zone,
in just a few minutes. Just like
that.
(beat)
A view of a bomb exploding a house, which then causes the
neighboring houses to be set on fire too. The houses are
close together and made out of plaster,clay and wood.
(beat)
The skies appear gray and dark as the moon comes out.
CARLOS (CONT’D) (V.O)
Most people do not even know why
they’ve been so ill fated. They
probably have a dozen questions
racing through their minds...
Shots of town people who have been affected, sitting on
the edge of the road, bawling their eyes out and screaming
out of remorse and confusion. Smoke slightly around them,
making them cough and splutter.
CARLOS (CONT’D) (V.O)
... Like ’why is this group of
terrorists doing to our town?
What have we done to harm anyone?
We don’t deserve this!’

2.EXT. CIDADE VELHA,MIDDLE OF STREETS- EVENING 2.
Shot of the middle of the street where there is a single
spotlight of a dark figure emerging from the darkness
walking slowly towards the camera. Figure is shown wearing
ripped clothing as if he just had a fight. Bruises on
face, holding a sword and dragging a bloody head by the
hair of the head. Brutally beheaded that the features of
the face are unidentifiable as a human face.
(beat)
TOWN PEOPLE WHO ARE RUNNING AND
COMPLAINING (V.O)
These terrorists ruining the
town, for what?
(beat)It is a disaster. It’s
an attack and an
assassination. This
terrorist walking ever so
slowly, that has a
self-fulfillment beheading
one of our town leaders
Kaino, who did nothing but
good for us!
CARLOS (V.O)
The questions are endless during
an catastrophic event like this.
(beat) Oh how wrong these town
people are. oh how misled they
are. oh how fucking stupid they
are. This man walking around with
Kaino’s head in his hand. Good
for him.
(beat)
Closer view of the figure, smiling as he seems satisfied
although he has got bruises,cuts and fresh blood all over
his face.
CARLOS (CONT’D) (V.O)
That man. (beat) That man, is me.
These terrorists aren’t
terrorists. The town’s people and
the ’leaders’ are the terrorists.
These people burning down houses
and I’m beheading one of the
leaders Kaino is revenge. Pure
vengeance. I did it with pride.
(beat)
CARLOS (CONT’D) (V.O)
It feels exhilarating. Seeing
this town in ruins makes me feel
content. They all destroyed my

3.INT/EXT- CIDADE VELHA - THE LORIDO’S HOUSE- DAY 1998
(12:30PM), FLASHBACK 3.
A house with no windows made out of clay and wood, with a
cheap air conditioning fan spinning around. Wicker chairs
to sit on and a wooden table. Door open which is made out
of wood covered in cheap varnish. outside is a muddy
pathway leading straight onto a road. Characters in the
scene wearing light clothing due to the weather.
ADANO
I’m going to the town meeting
after I teach my classes Ana.
(beat) Don’t put out a plate for
me.
ANA (V.S)
Okay my querido, I love you. take
Carlos to school. He thinks he is
old enough to walk himself,
what’s the need if his Papa works
there, ey?
CARLOS
Mama, I am old enough I’m 14
soon! and strong enough Papa
makes me drink milk every night,
I’ll be big and strong like him,
and then i can take on anyone and
walk anywhere alone!
ADANO
Haha, yes! that’s the Lorido
spirit! Let us go now, we don’t
want to be late for class!

FLASHBACK(8:30PM) 4.
School hall filled with town men after school hours, all
standing up whilst Adano is on the stage talking to the
crowd,lots of hustling and bustling showing discussion of
the events. Warm Lighting connoting a sense of intimacy
and community spirit.
ADANO
Fellow town people, we have
gathered here to discuss

Kaino,Ciggo and Zen’s plan to
take over this town and make it
alright for drug dealers to
reside and roam around our roads.
We must stop this! Don’t agree
for them to take over by the
false presence of ’making the
town better’! It’s LIES!
ALL TOWN PEOPLE (V.O)
YES! WE WILL STOP THIS!
ADANO
We do not want criminals or drug
dealing in our small and precious
town! We need a leader to help us
be guided! Any volunteers?
(beat)
A Wide shot of the town people gathered together, everyone
appears distressed by the situation which can be seen on
their face and their body language.
TALL AND PETITE TOWN MAN #1
distressed) Adano, why don’t you
guide us?
Most town people nodding in agreement, with some appearing
to be confused but eventually nodding.
ALL TOWN PEOPLE
loud and determined

politely) Mr Lorido, you’re the
only good teacher in this town.
You’ve taught others how to
teach, maybe you can consider

conforming to other people’s choice, as some faces still

POV:ADANO FACES A TUNNEL OF PEOPLE WITH THE SOUND OF HIS
HEART RACING TO CONNOTE ANXIETY.
ADANO
(suprised)I’m flattered! I would
love to lead my town, and I will
make it my duty to protect my
town people from criminals! Those
able and disabled such as Nora,
who is just a child she does not
deserve to be around drugs just
like the other children don’t
either!
Town man#4 wearing dark clothing and a brown bowl hat on
the side of the big crowd in the hall looks suspicous but
quiet.

STREET -EVENING 1998 FLASHBACK (8:45PM)5.
Series of shots of the Town Man#4 leaving the hall and
walking in the cold dark evening on the streets towards a
vintage payphone connoting the poverty of the town. Town
man#4 picks the phone up and calls Kaino,Ciggo and Zen,who
are together.

Boss... Adano is convincing the

6.INT. DRUGHOUSE SOMEWHERE IN A DIFFERENT TOWN 1998
FLASHBACK (8:45PM CONT’D)6.
All three druglords sitting smoking marijuana together
with the phone on speaker being held by a gang member
whilst they’re sitting down in suits and wearing
jewellery.
CIGGO
(into phone)
HAHA, that teacher thinks he will

Carlos, Adano and Ana around table finishing off their
meal, which shows on the table half empty bowls of food
such as rice and kidney beans and their plates scraped
clean.
ANA
(demanding)Give me your dishes my
amores, go get ready for bed.
ADANO
Thank you my amor, it was
delicious!
CARLOS
Thank you mama!
Characters get up and Adano looks outside suspiciously
wearing his spectacles and in a white linen shirt and
shorts.
CARLOS
What’s wrong papa?
ADANO
(worringly)The school light is
on, let me go check if someone
has broken in.
ANA (V.S)
At this time?
8.INT/EXT. THE LORIDO’S HOUSE/OUTSIDE IN TOWN ROAD -
EVENING- 1988 FLASHBACK (10PM CONT’D) 8.
Adano puts his straw sandals on and leaves with a candle
in a hurry.

ANA
Carlos, go with papa
Carlos puts his straw sandals on and runs along to follow
his father.
9.INT/EXT DARK STREETS/INSIDE SCHOOL- EVENING 1998
FLASHBACK (10:20PM)9.
They walk along and enter the school to find a blood trail
as if someone got hurt and dragged inside the school.
Adano and Carlos take small steps in,looking frightened.
ADANO
(apprehensively)Who’s here?
A moaning sound comes from a distance corner as if the
victim is in real pain, as they walk through to go towards
the victim they see shredded clothing and broken wooden
crutches.
CARLOS
Papa,I’m scared.
ADANO
No,don’t be.
(long beat)
They see the only disabled child in the whole town called
Nora lying in a pool of blood wearing torn blood soaked
clothing, barely breathing and in shock.
ADANO
(shockingly) OH MY NORA!
(to Carlos)
go get help, shout and get
everyone here! I know who did
this!
Carlos runs knocking on doors apprehensively for help.
CARLOS
(heavily breathing and scared)
Please come quick to the school!
INTERCUT
Nora falls in and out of consiousness, struggling to
breath and speak. Laying down in Adano’s arms.
NORA
I’m sorry Sir (beat)but I have to
save my family...

ADANO
What are you talking about?
NORA
They...(beat) they said I have to
allow rape so they
can...(beat)(muffled) or my
family will(beat) die.
ADANO
(aggresively) They will pay for
this!
Town people come rushing in with candles, all screaming
due to the horrific sight.
SHORT PALE TOWN MAN #5
(shouting) WHO DID THIS?
NORA’S DARK SKINNED AND BOLD FATHER
(shouting and upset) MY BABY WHO
DID THIS TO YOU? SHOW ME I WILL
KILL THEM!
SMALL TOWN MAN WEARING A LARGE COAT #4
We all will!
Nora gradually lifts her hand as she is laying down and
points at Adano.
ADANO
Nora? no Nora not me, tell them
who did it!
Kaino, Ciggo and Zen walk in, Nora stares at them and
takes her last breath. Town people then grab Adano, and
beat him savagely. Carlos walks in sees this and runs to
get his mother.
10. INT- THE LORIDO’S HOUSE- NIGHT 1998, FLASHBACK
(10:30PM)10.
CARLOS
MAMA! HURRY UP COME NOW
ANA
what’s wrong, I’m coming!
11. EXT. CIDADE VELHA MIDDLE OF STREET- NIGHT- FLASHBACK
(AROUND 10.30PM CONT’D)11.
Carlos and Ana see town people along with Kaino,Ciggo and
Zen beating Adano to death. Adano is covered in blood, the
town people using weapons to hit him.

ANA
NO STOP! (cries) STOP IT HE IS
INNOCENT!
Ana tries to stop them and gets pushed by Zen on the
floor. Carlos goes to see if she’s okay whilst the town
people hang Adano on a tree with a rope and start beating
him again. Rain starts pouring down alongside strikes of
thunder.
CIGGO
This man has tried to convince
you town people that WE are
criminals, when really he is the
criminal! He raped and murdered a
poor innoccent disabled child!
KAINO
I SAY WE BURN HIM! WE WILL ALWAYS
GET JUSTICE FOR THIS TOWN!
ZEN
That is why we should be your
leaders!
ALL TOWN PEOPLE (V.S)
YES WE AGREE! BURN HIM!
CARLOS
NO LEAVE HIM!
Ciggo pushes Carlos away whilst Kaino covers Adano who is
unconscious in lighter fluid. Zen then tosses his
ciggerette which causes Adano to be set completely alight.
CARLOS
I WILL GET REVENGE FROM ALL OF
YOU!
Carlos hears a voice calling his name.
12.EXT. CIDADE VELHA MIDDLE OF STREET- NIGHT 2006 BACK TO
THE PRESENT.12.
A shot of young men wearing black jumpsuit with a black
hat walks, he looks lively showing juxtaposition between
towards Carlos in present day. Body language of Carlos in
present day seems as if he is still day dreaming.
JON
Carlos! bring that bastard’s head
here!
IGGY
one druglord down, two to go!

CARLOS
yes my friends! I feel good
They all look like they’ve fought, and hop into a open
roof jeep with a girl driving it, a shot of them driving
with feel good Brazilian music playing juxtaposes the
surroundings of people crying as houses are burnt and
people are killed.
CARLOS (V.O)
My mama died that night. Shock
and head injuries killed her. No
one from the town helped me. I
moved to the favelas of Rio where
I met Jon who was an ex child
member of Kaino,Ciggo and Zen’s
group. Iggy, who always wanted to
take down druglords who ruined
his mama’s life as he was
addicted to heroine and Sofia who
was sex trafficked by those
notorious three.
(beat)
I swore revenge. I swore I would
take the town and the druglords.
Meeting these people with the
same goals has helped me come up
with a foolproof plan to have
them all killed. 8 years it took
but we start the action now. This
is my story, of how I met my gang
’a vingança sede’ or the revenge
thirsty. This is only the
beginning of our revenge,
(beat) our vingança.
A series of slow motion shots of Carlos,Jon and Iggy who
all are shown wearing same black jumpsuit and hat and one
girl, Sofia who is shown wearing a black crop top and
trousers are in a jeep laughing and singing to a feel-good
Portuguse song whilst in the background bombs are going
off. The song is louder than the bombs and adds
juxtaposition to the image on screen and the sound
playing.
