NIRMAN is a grassroots organization in Orissa, India that works to promote environmental conservation, ecological agriculture, and sustainable livelihoods. It aims to achieve farmer control over land, food, seeds and farming systems through functional literacy programs. Between 2009-2011, NIRMAN helped 167 farmers adopt the System of Rice Intensification method using indigenous rice seeds. NIRMAN conducts awareness campaigns and training programs focused on organic farming, indigenous seed conservation, and agro-diverse farming models.
