2. Factors that can increase your risk of prostate cancer include:
1) Older age. The risk of prostate cancer increases with age; highest
incidence is found in men over 65.
2) Race. African American men (and Jamaican men of African
American descent) have a greater risk of prostate cancer than do
men of other races. The reason why is not clear.
3) Diet. A diet high in saturated fat. (Obese men diagnosed with
prostate cancer are more likely to have advanced disease that's more
difficult to treat.)
4) Physical Inactivity. Physically inactive men are at a greater risk.
&
5) Family history of prostate cancer. If men in your family have had
prostate cancer, your risk may be increased.
How well do you know your grandpa?
3. Prostate cancer may not cause
signs or symptoms in its early stages.
If more advanced the disease’s
signs and symptoms may include the following:
Trouble urinating; especially at night
The need to urinate more frequently
Slow or weak flow of urine
A burning sensation or pain when urinating
Decreased force in the stream of urine
Blood in your urine or semen
Bone pain, especially in the pelvis, lower back or hips
Swelling in your legs
Remember: Generally, there are no symptoms of early prostate cancer,
which is why tests for early detection are important.
If only Randy’s grandpa would have…

was 50 and “Grandson, I

more.”
5. Grandpa could have told a lot more stories to
Randy’s future children.
Randy will ask his dad to get checked out for prostate cancer so he
will be able to tell stories to his future grandchildren.
And Randy will remember also so he can complete the circle of life.
“I miss you grandpa. Love, Randy”
