DENTAL POST.

Dental posts
The posts also called dental bolts are
used to make larger the tooth
and can support thecrown.

   Function of the dental posts.
Return the anatomy and function
to a tooth that was destroyed or
weakened protect whatremains of
the tooth for possible fractures,
retention and distribution
of occlusal forces. figure 1:post

MATERIALS
Depending on the material the poles can
basically be divided into
two groups: metallic and no metallic.

                          DENTAL METAL POSTS
Within the metal, in turn, have
                          the precast and cast.

NO METALLIC DENTAL POSTS
No metallic dental Posts: we have
the zirconium, resin reinforced with glass
fiber reinforced resin and carbon fiber.

elasticity, the metal even higher.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A DENTAL POST

The size of a pole; should not exceed one third of the root
diameter. Conversely, increasing the removal of the dental
structure to accommodate a wide pole, can lead to perforation or
           predispose root fracture.

The length of the post; must be
equal to or greater than the length of the
crown. Is recommended between half
and 3/4 parts of the root. Since in the
long poles thin roots can cause
perforations or fractures, while the short

  • 6. CHARACTERISTICS OF A DENTAL POST The size of a pole; should not exceed one third of the root diameter. Conversely, increasing the removal of the dental structure to accommodate a wide pole, can lead to perforation or predispose root fracture. The length of the post; must be equal to or greater than the length of the crown. Is recommended between half and 3/4 parts of the root. Since in the long poles thin roots can cause perforations or fractures, while the short Figure 10: length of a pole. roots may violate the apical seal. http://www.bogotadentistry.com 20/01/12 /art/imp1.gif
