The Chupa Chups candy company had sales of 501 million euros in 2002. Enric Bernat Fotlladosa, who was born in Barcelona in 1923, founded Chupa Chups. In 1956-1957, Bernat had the idea to add sticks to candies, which was popular because most consumers were children who could remove candies from their mouths with the sticks rather than their hands.
