Society and Culture presentation

1. SOCIETY AND CULTURE BY ANTHONY FRANCO

2. Society This concept refers to the way people organize themselves throughout a community and group. These also can be broken up into institutions, organizations and systems that people use to link themselves with others to form a society.

3. Culture Culture generally refers to the values, arts, technology, laws and beliefs that bind a society together. It may include examples as diverse artwork, language, literature, tattoos and religion.

4. Persons This refers to the individuals who are shaped by their society and culture. They develop a social and culture identity and learn to communicate with other person in a society.

5. Environment This can refer to the physical setting of a society, there are many types of environments such as the social and physiological environment.

6. Time Time is a constant in all societies and cultures. We choose to measure it in terms of past, present and future.

7. Power The easiest way to understand power is to think about what it is that allows people to bring others to do things they may not usually do. It involves a capacity to influence others to follow a course of action or point of view they would not otherwise follow.

8. Authority This term can often be confused as power, and can actually be thought of as a subtype of power. Authority implies a legitimate use of influence and/or persuasion.

9. Gender This concept refers to the socially constructed differences between men and women. It doesn’t refer to the physical or biological differences between males and females, but rather the value of society places on those physical and biological differences.

10. Technology Technology means the tools that make tasks easier, enhancing the natural ability of persons to perform those tasks. E.g. the internet makes communication and information faster and more extensive.
