The purpose of this research was to seek the effectiveness of Project – Based Learning (PBL) (i.e., egg drop project) towards students’ real world connection in learning physics. This research was conducted in Tuaran (Urban) and Kota Marudu (Rural) in Malaysia. A total of thirty- eight(38) form four students (i.e., 17 male and 21 female students) were used in the study. Data used in the study were collected using the Colorado Learning Attitude about Science Survey (CLASS) – real world connection Category. Respondents were required to response to the survey instrument based on a five point Likert scale before (presurvey) and after (post-survey) in the implementation of PBL. Data collected were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Science Version 20.0 for windows (SPSS) to compare the students’ pre-survey and postsurvey responses. Wilcoxon signed ranks test results showed that real world connection of overall students for both schools in total, gender (i.e., male and female) andlocation(i.e., urban and rural) have positive significant difference in median values.In addition the second analysis which is the paired samples-t-test results showed that overall students for both schools in total, gender (i.e., male and female)and location (i.e., urban and rural) have positive significant difference in mean values as well. Therefore study revealed that through PBL-egg drop project, students could relate physics concepts; momentum, impulse and impulsive force into real life situations, engaged students’ real world connection in learning physics and changed students’ perception towards physics

The focus of this study was about higher secondary and primary school students’ attitude towards physics subject. The population of this study was some of the higher secondary and primary schools students of Dire Dawa administrative city (Ethiopia), however due to time constraints and convenience students from three government secondary schools, 2 Private secondary schools and l1 government and private schools were taken as convenience sample for this study. The study revealed that students were very much unsatisfied from the physics teacher methodology moreover students have considered physics as difficult subject and developed negative attitudes on the calculation part of the subject. The result also revealed that girls are more attracted on physics subject when they at primary than secondary schools, like grade 9 and 11.

ABSTRACT: science, as a subject is universal and has no boundaries. Teaching of science should enable the students to enrich their Affective domain. The interest, attitude and aptitude in science help students to learn and apply scientific concepts and principles in a logical and effective way. Factors such as student motivation, attitudes, perceptions and values are included in the affective domain. It is therefore not surprising that affective domain learning outcomes are often the least considered when teachers plan or conduct their lessons. Teachers can increase their effectiveness by considering the affective domain in planning courses, delivering lectures and activities, and assessing student learning. In this paper, the investigator tried to find out whether there exists any relationship between Affective Learning Outcome and Achievement in Physics of Secondary School Students for the total sample and for the subsample based on Gender. The investigator also finds out whether exist any significant differences in the Affective Learning Outcome and Achievement in Physics among Secondary School Students based on Gender. Proper statistical techniques were used for collecting standardizing and analyzing the data.

The research aimed to develop a valid and practical Conceptual Change Texts (CCT) of Newtonian mechanics materials. The method used was educational research and development. The data were collected using questionnaires and expert validation sheets, as well as questionnaires and interviews with students. The design of the CCT was developed based on the conceptual change theory using the following format: situation, questions, space for answers and reasons, misconception forms, and correct concept explanations. There have been 21 developed units of the CCT distributed in four chapters, i.e. Basic Laws, Applications of the Basic Laws, Work and Energy, and Impulse and Momentum. The results of the data analysis revealed that the CCT had content, conformity with needs, language, presentation, and graphic feasibility levels of 70%, 40%, 80%, 90%, 87%, respectively to mean that the teaching materials were very valid. Based on the practicality test, the teaching materials were very practical, i.e. 87%. In other words, the Newtonian mechanics CCT was easy to read and understand and could be used to change misconceptions. Educators can use these supplement teaching materials in the Basic Physics courses in college and in mechanics topics in a high school.

The efficacy of using HW in PE Kory Hill Introduction Of the many barriers to quality physical education, limited time and resources are some of the most formidable (Barroso, McCullum‐Gomez, Hoelscher, Kelder, & Murray, 2005; Morgan & Hansen, 2008). In an effort to overcome such barriers, some experts have suggest the use of a tool that has traditionally been used by classroom teachers (Gill & Schlossman, 2004a) but seldomly by physical educators (Mitchell, Stanne, & Barton, 2000; van Sluijs, McMinn, & Griffin, 2007) – homework (Novak & Lynott III, 2015; St. Ours & Scrabis-Fletcher, 2013a). Some of the criticisms of homework use for classroom subjects are that it promotes rote practice and busy work (Kohn, 2006). However, those same factors may be a seen as assets in a physical education context. When learning a motor skills, rote practice (# of practice trials/hours of practice) is arguably the most important variable for improvment (Schmidt, Lee, Winstein, Wulf, & Zelaznik, 2018). Additionally, when encouraging children to accumulate at least an hour of daily physical activity, what some call busy work, may be useful. After all, anything that keeps a child physically active is likely helping to meet national or state standards regarding physical activity (Hill, 2009; Novak & Lynott III, 2015). The purpose of this study will be to investigate the efficacy of motor skill homework in elementary physical education classes. This inquiry is significant because there is very little in the current literature on the topic. Most of the current body of literature focuses on active homework (Duncan et al., 2011; Fairclough et al., 2013) or the attitudes and opinions of stakeholders (Barney & Strand, 2008; Kinchin & O’Sullivan, 2003; Smith & Madden, 2014). Furthermore, children are not as physically active as they should be to maintain optimal health (Roman-Viñas et al., 2016; Tremblay et al., 2016) and research shows that such inactivity can result from being physically illiterate (Whitehead, 2010). Inquiries such as this are valuable because they contribute to the body of knowledge regarding best practices in the utilization of homework in physical education contexts. When children engage in programs that improve physical literacy, they are more likely to lead physically active lives (Behringer, Heede, Matthews, & Mester, 2011; Clark & Metcalfe, 2002; Harris, 2014) and thus healthier lives (Reiner, Niermann, Jekauc, & Woll, 2013). Delimitations This study will be delimited to 5th grade students at a public elementary school. The classes must be left in-tact and the participants will be volunteers so the sample is on of convenience. Measures of skill achievement will be made via a skills test of a novel skill – juggling a footbag. Homework compliance will be reported from self record forms signed by parents/guardians.
